Nobody's attacking Prince personally here in this thread. We're saying he was too busy making music to say -- have a will. Too busy making music and performing to think about something his fans would appreciate. Too busy making music and performing to see what is going on with other artists -- and think maybe he should do something similar. On RSD, he was at Electric Fetus buying the new remaster vinyl of Joni Mitchell's Hejira. Does anyone believe that this is the first time he purchased that record? No. I'm assuming he bought it because he was interested in the remaster of his fellow WB artist. Or maybe he just wanted to play it for Joshua since he had such shit taste in music.

Let's all agree that Prince was a great guy, short of the nonsense he said in interviews in the last couple of decades that many around here ideologically disagree with. And let us all keep an open mind when it comes to how poorly he treated the art he created in the beginning of his career.

Was he responsible for spearheading a remaster project? Think about the logic of what you are saying. If WB wanted to do something with P catalog they could have they had the master tapes not Prince. He could have have been softer in his negotiation but he stuck to his guns and got what he wanted. I think you are forget that you do not own his music and his decisions were for his benefit not the fans. If he wanted to take the master tapes and burn them so be it. You need to get the fuck over yourself because all you have done for a month is make nasty ass comments about Prince. Maybe you think he is alive and is reading this board and cares what you think. Maybe you need to move on since you cannot even acknowledge that he sold about 4 million units in a months time without anything being remastered because most people don't care about it.

1. Prince didn't sold 4 millions in one months, he sold about 2.5 millions...90% in anglosaxons countries.

2. If WB could print GOLD, etc. they would have done it for 20 years, especially now that he's dead. So, they can't contractually print these albums. That's a cold fact.

3. I never made nasty comments on Prince, you are out of your mind. And you're right, Prince did what he wanted, and it's surely not my intention to criticize his decisions, that were his own. I'm just stating fact, without any bad feeling. I'm proud Prince never sold his soul to anyone. It's just a shame that it implies that most of his albums are out of print.

The funny thing is why do they care?

I mean yeah I'm somewhat glad to see Prince's work is getting recognition and that so many records have been sold last month because I'm happy if his work brings joy to other people the way it brought joy to me, and it's a way of showing Prince's legacy is there to stay. But I couldn't care less when he was alive and I couldn't care less next month either. I have all the albums. I can enjoy them and share them with my friends if they ask me to. I couldn't care less about how many copies Prince sold those last 20 years because I knew those records were out and I could get them.

I'm sorry for the new fans but on the other hand all that stuff can be found pretty easily illegally, so it's not like they can't get the records if they really want them anyway, and even in the good old 80's and 90's releases finding certain Prince and associated artists releases has always been treasure hunting in the record stores, and it was part of the fun.

Most of the artists I listen to are very confidential acts, known by very few people, and I couldn't care less. I have their records, I found them, I dig them, I don't need fucking MTV and I certainly don't need them to chart in order to enjoy them in the sanctuary of my living room...
