Rehearsal - 1994 Guitar Jam

Just came across this on You Tube and have to say this is the kind of thing I want to see tons of. Rehearsals and recording sessions, behind the scene footage of any all all things Prince!!!

That's from a much longer video, of a French TV performance, Canal+. prince shows up about half way through it. Morris Hayes takes the band through "Endorphinmachine", "Space", "Shy", "319", and other songs from The Gold Experience and Come (and eventually stuff on Crystal Ball). You can hear just how many samples prince used on stage during that time (he even talked about that in the Alan Light interview in Vibe magazine). Obviously prince's voice & guitar are missing in the band rehearsals, so you can really hear the underlying track that the band is playing along with.

prince and Mayte eventually show up. They run through "Endorphinmachine", and he halts it at the guitar solo, telling the sound guys they don't have to turn up the monitor during the solo. He's also telling them to adjust this or that throughout the song before that moment. When he finally says "Let's hit Endorphin again, 2nd verse - tippy tippy", is when they finish the song. I once pieced those two chunks together, and it made for a great rehearsal track. They also run through "Acknowledge Me", and something else I can't quite remember. Maybe "Glam Slam Boogie"? I forget honestly.

If you can ever find the whole thing, get it and watch it. The rehearsal is 100x more interesting than the performance, IMO. Of course the performance is electrifying. It's of "Endorphinmachine". The whole rehearsal is just over an hour.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.
