Feelings About Prince on eBay I know it's normal for the vultures to come out and try to make a buck off the passing of famous people, but it really bothers me to see Prince's personal items on eBay. I remember Prince mentioning in an interview with George Lopez that some of his stuff gets stolen, and sometimes I wonder if what I'm looking at wasn't stolen.
Another thing that bothers me is seeing those round boxes handed out to "fans" outside Paisley Park after his passing listed on eBay. I thought that was really nice of Prince's family, friends and Paisley Park staff (who're in their own grieving process) to do that. Then, personally coming out to hand deliver these items to "fans" as a heartfelt gift for fans that grieve with them. I don't think I've ever seen anything like that done for fans before, and seeing them on eBay just tears me up.
I realize people gotta eat, and I don't know these individual's circumstances. But still... it bothers me.
Maybe I'm being overly judgmental?

Nope, you are not judgemental. To be selling those round boxes given as gifts for mourning fans is complete garbage. Tacky.

I have a few items that I want to sell that I found after I moved. Last year, I sold my entire collection. Mostly what I have left are a few official t-shirts, 2 GCS 2000 beanies and miscellanous post cards. I have been waiting to list them on eBay out of respect for Prince's passing. If I was a recipient of the round boxes (which I am not), that would be 1 item I could not sell. Just for respect.

If people were touched by receiving the gifts then they should have returned the sentment by donating them to charitable organizations to raise money if they didn't want to keep them. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

I agree with your statement.

I thought the purple boxes were also given from a tour or something by so they might not be boxes from the day that we're given free at Paisley, but I could be wrong. Surprise, surprise.
Another treat. Another trick.

The Purple boxes have been seen on ebay? Well, just remember not everyone that was at PP when the boxes where be given out are fans. Some people were just there to be there. So if they have no attachment and don't have a Prince fan in the family, I can see selling on ebay. James Denton from Desperate Housewives was at PP right after Prince died just to see what was going on. He lives close by and said he thought he would come out. He never said he was a fan or not, he was just there talking to the press about living close to Prince. Beautiful, Loved and Blessed
Thank You Prince | |

I have mixed feelings. Once people have an item they're technically free to do what they want. As already said, some of these folks don't have the connection and see the value like us fans. But if it's a situation where that item was stolen from him (as mentioned in the interview) and now they want to make a profit off of his death, then that's just tasteless So here I sit in my lonely room

it is hard and I would never sell one of those boxes but I am more upset when people are selling boots as "official" or "rare" items - that makes me so angry Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜
