Eating disorder?

[b]Im somewhat leery about beginning a new topic before scanning ALL threads on here but that is a bit impossible...So ill just throw this out there..Ive read alot of posts and threads as well as being aware of Prince's healthy lifestyle for years... But there is always that one tidbit, here and there, that makes me think he might have had some sort of eating disorder, i.e. anorexia...That, on top of his hip problems and taking painkillers, could b a recipe for a tragic ending..Info like he was hospitalized for dehydration for one thing...Other than being male, he seems to fit the mold of a basic anorexic profile; Highly intelligent, disciplined, a control freak, secretive and private..a history of being thin, much thinner at some times than other times...His sweet tooth...He mentions fasting in his last Rolling Stone article..Also he seemed to exist on little sleep, yet another symptom..Anorexics are often imsomniacs and manic...

Now, this isnt to say hes had one forever but as hes always seemed health conscious and very slim, yet highly energetic(his body was an instrument as well, just like dancers and models who also suffer from eating disorders)...Perhaps he was healthy, but always on the edge of taking it too far...Its a well known fact that the more u deprive urself of certain foods and dont get the nutrition u need, the more food actually begins to obsess you, leading into the dark corners of a disorder or disorder like symptoms and health problems) Prince also said himself that he forgets to drink water alot of the time, which is dangerous when ur expending as much energy as he was, depleting his body of fluids... It could b possible that he had the underlying illness of anorexia and screwed himself and his tolerance of prescription pain meds by not eating properly in recent months or years...perhaps he had an underlying illness related to lack of nutrition..I mean, if he died because of an organ failure, the coroner might not b able to tell exactly what caused it, or if its a combination of too many drugs and the strain of a long standing illness...
Idk. Just a thought..

Yeah I considered that too. Eventually you can't handle that, as you age it's harder to recover. if he got a cold, it could have easily turned more severe if he was already not exactly as healthy as we thought he was. Or he claimed he was. I got taken down by a cold two years ago that turned into pneumonia and I've never really been that sick. I was already not eating well or drinking enough water and that took me down. I had to force myself to sleep and drink fluids and finally got better but in the meantime took and mixed all kinds of OTC remedies. I'm lucky I didn't kill myself with all that... The only thing that really helped was sleep.

I also wonder if he went to a dr often. How did Kirk have to recommend his doctor to him- sounded like the dr he recommended was new to Prince. How did Prince not have his own dr already unless all this time he mostly avoided them? It's all kinds of tragic.

But yeah he had signs of an eating disorder and opioid addiction. They can be pretty similar. In fact I knew an addict who when she fell off she would claim it was her eating disorder getting out of control until it was obvious there was more going on. I don't talk to her anymore but I wonder what triggered what. Did the eating disorder trigger relapse of Opiods or vice versa.
Surprise, surprise.
Another treat. Another trick.

It could be possible he was not addicted at all and was simply taking this medication as prescribed. Not sure why folks (many many threads) are so quick to assume this addiction story as a fundamental truth and then basing every conjured up premise in existence off it.

Because those people are insane, or ignorant.

I never implied he was an addict or even addicted. In fact, i was saying if he was taking meds for his pain then perhaps at some point his finicky eating behaviors took a turn for the worse as opiates also kill your appetite....If he wasnt eating right or drinking water and had an underlying disorder then his normal prescribed doesage of pain meds could have caused an overdose...

Sorry I didn't mean to necessarily imply he was addicted. I don't understand why that is such a bad word though... Quite the stigma when the reality is we are all addicted to something. Sugar, coffee... Etc.

I think there's a huge difference between someone with a dependency (let's be honest that's just a nice way to say addict) and someone who uses to get high- who sells all their stuff, steals or commits violent crime to get high...

Addict is not a bad word. I don't think Prince was trying to get "wasted" that goes against everything he did. Accidents happen whether you are careful or not.

Also I don't know why he died, all signs point to one answer though. I still love him no matter what and if anything the whole thing just makes him more human. As much as I wanted him to be perfect, none of us are.

Did I miss the autopsy results being released to the public? Is the investigation completed?

I have percoset, vicodin, ambien and other goodies in my apartment -- all leftover from past surgeries. If I died before pressing "Post response", at least I wouldn't have TMZ making assumptions -- like users on this forum posted so called "news stories" that poisoned the minds of those that can't think for themselves. My friends wouldn't be speculating that I died from drug use simply because these pills are in my possession.

But because it is Prince and people saw a photo where his face wasn't covered in make-up -- well, then it must be this. Or it must be that -- rather than just fucking waiting for the autopsy results and the investigation to be completed.

This website needs a new forum for his passing so people can just post stupid shit there.

"Prince music & more" doesn't seem like the appropriate place to be speculating on someone we supposedly care about. Doesn't seem like the place to speculate about his past relationships.

Good grief. She was joking. It's been an ongoing joke over the years. Prince even joked about it himself on "Mashed Potato Girl" or one of the other segues on Exodus.

That National Enquirer pic was fake and even said so. And wasnt it reported by someone other than TMZ that painkillers were found on his person and not just in his home? Why would the DEA investigate it so thoroughly if there wasnt some indication that he died from an overdose? We dont know how he died and of course there is gonna b speculation. The threads here are full of them. And did i even mention his past relationships in this thread? If u have an issue with that i guess take it up with the people who posted those kind of threads...

I think it's quite plause plausible. His picky & strict eating habits are well-known, and he's stated himself in past interviews that he "forgets" to eat. Whatever he was suffering from, your body is not going to fare well or be able to handle extra stress (illness or medication), when you don't have proper nourishment...or sleep. Your body can only take so much before it gives out.

I rest my case.

TMZ made claims about the DEA -- and it was posted on this website as fact. And folks are still quoting that shit as fact.

Meanwhile, the person heading the investigation -- disputes TMZ's claim. So, I guess it's up to folks to trust what TMZ says, or the lead investigator.

Anorexia? I'm not sure about that one, but I wouldn't be surprised if he suffered from anemia.

My intention with this thread was to speculate if he was ill with an eating disorder and on painkillers for legit reasons, that could have been a deadly combo, with nothing going on in an illegal sense at all. I thought it was established he had painkillers in his possession and on his person.

So u dont believe there were drugs in his system nor involved in his death and no save shot when the plane had to make emergency landing? Was it TMZ who reported that it was an od when it wasnt?

He would not have looked like a healthy dude in his late 30's as recent as 2013 if his eating habits were a detriment to his health. If anything, his eating habits are why he aged so amazingly. Eating the right things in small portions is very well known recipe for good health. Even skipping meals every now and then, along with small fasts, are completely healthy.

Prince was doing it right, it's the larger percentage of the world that has eating disorders with all the crap that is consumed in ridiculous quantities. Perhaps eating bad and in large quantities is not classified as a disorder, but it certaintly is not healthy.

Sure. There are medications that cause anorexia (loss of apetite), but I have no idea what he was taking. Plus, his change in eating goes back to the early 90's when he went vegan. That is when he noticeably started appear more lean, which I think he actually preferred. There was one interview that was posted around here where he was asking a reporter if she ate meat and she said yes, so he asked her then how does she stay skinny? Which led me to believe that he associated eating meat with being fat.

I believe in science. When autopsy results are released, and the investigation is complete, then folks can be disrespectful. Then again, if they're going to be disrespectful, why wait -- right?

Well i didnt feel i was being disrespectful as ive seen much speculation on this site. Of course people are going to speculate n wonder how he died. You're basically saying shutup and dont say anything until the autopsy results are made public. I guess perhaps u should talk with the mods about banning threads that are displeasing to you...Or u could just not read them.

he didn't appear drastically skinnier than he ever was to me. Probably the skinniest he was was in the Slave period and I don't think he was that thin. Prince always had stories from those around him that he didn't eat, going back to the eighties. Patti Labelle mentions it on Arsenio too. But really, how much does a 120 pound man need to eat? I've heard a scientist say that the one sure way to live longer is to eat 30% less than we need to maintain a regular weight, so I don't think starvation killed him. However, I ran into a guy last week, he told me I was getting close to his size but then he said he had a lot of guys his age but very thin get sick and not have any reserves to fight it with. I don't know. the eating disorder thing is, I think, part of the prince myth along with the sleep thing, not to say there aren't kernels of truth to them but that we don't know the whole story. He always said he didn't do drugs too and we see how that's turning out.
