I wonder what the motivation was to keep recording and not just to stop and put a record out.

He had to let Parade run its course and give time to WB to sell it, and at the time it was pretty much one album a year, so submitting an album at the end of 1986 for an early 1987 release was the logical thing to do. CB was submitted to WB in late November/early December.

I also think Prince wished his first post-Revolution album to be some sort of a statement.

Clearly there was no brutal change from DF to SOTT: the last DF config was already a lot of SOTT, and Camille brought a new batch of tracks, and CB yet another new batch, but it was a very progessive progress in the end.

When you copy and paste a URL for an image, if it has something like "auth" in the URL address, then the authorization was only for the original viewer. Same goes with pasting URLs for linking -- for others to see a webpage.

There's a shitload of other tracks from this era, but this is only about the evolution of the album that became SOTT.

Fun - Strange Relationship survived round after round. Followed by Ballad of Dorothy Parker, Starfish and Coffee.

Yes, it is the only track still not leaked.

We already have access to all the tracks in pristine quality barring ATSW and "No Light In A Large Room" and "Big Tall Wall", the only 2 we have in quality far from pristine.

There may indeed be intermediate tracklists we are not aware of. It could also be that Prince planned to put Crucial on CB then decided it should be Adore before he compiled the whole tracklist.

I really wish he would have released "Teacher, Teacher" and "It's A Wonderful Day" in '86-'87. Those are two of my favorite Prince tracks. Such pop goodness!

He must really have dug those track, yeah. Strange Relationship is kind of the hero of the pack, having made every config!

Compile all these songs into a playlist and you've got one of the best collections of music ever recorded. 86 was such an incredible year for Prince's music.
