I was just wondering about those loops myself just yesterday? What did happen with that set? The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

From privcevault.com:
"New Funk Sampling Series is an unreleased 7 CD set containing over 700 brief samples of hooks, beats and sounds from tracks recorded by Prince, planned for musicians and DJs to sample. The set was planned for sale for a one-time fee of $700, with no additional royalties necessary for use of the tracks. Website Love4OneAnother.com announced on 28 March 1999, that had commissioned the set, but nothing else was known until an advertisement and some details were posted on NPGOnlineLtd.com in late May 2000. Prince then played a short video promoting the set at a party at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA, on 16 September 2000 (am). The set was split over seven volumes, subtitled Bass, The Human Voice, Guitar, Keyboards, Loops & Percussion, Sound FX and Orchestral. A promotional advertisement for the set mentioned that samples were included from Kiss, Raspberry Beret, When Doves Cry, Erotic City and Days Of Wild. Little else is known about the set."
A select few loops and samples were leaked and can be found around and about, but I suspect that those aren't really official. Morris Hayes stated just a few years ago at NAMM that the sampling series were still being worked on even at that point for release that year, so I'd imagine that at some point, Prince was very interested in getting the set out to pro music retailers online or places like Sam Ash or Guitar Center, but no other news beyond that.

I read somewhere on here that the samples/loops that were circulating were from one of the keyboardists floppy disk that they just copied for someone. I thought it was Mr. Hayes, but I'm not certain, and don't wanna accuse nobody of aiding a bootlegger!
Totally unrelated: If you poke around on the "Interactive" CD-Rom, you can find loops from "Race" and "Kiss" from the part of the game that lets you "remix" them.

Somewhere on the net I have seen some of the actual filenames from this "still being worked on" Sampler set. Thusfar only 104 out of the 700 samples. [img:$uid]http://i.imgur.com/RIxLN93.png?1[/img:$uid] Forever changed

Somehow I can't imagine that Prince wouldn't have changed his mind about that whole no royalty thing after the initial $700 payment. "Where you are now is in a place that does not require time." - Rest In Power, PRINCE

Thank you very much.
It sounds like the official set never saw the light of day and were never officially "sold".

There is no remix or loops of Kiss. It was a karaoke / instrumental version of Kiss. Besides it being instrumental, the chicken scratch guitar at the end of the song differs from all the released versions Typo fixed [Edited 5/31/16 18:10pm] I will take my place, In the great below
