the world's attention is fading....makes me so sad besides the org, every day i google prince to see what new thing may have been written about him. a lot of it, especially at the beginning, was crap. speculation about the autopsy results, blather about so called sibling squabbles, and some of it downright slanderous. but there were a few good pieces, especially if you google prince (another word). the other word could be music, funk, religion, anything having to do with prince and you would get a whole different batch of articles. but when just googling prince the first dozen or so were about him. but that has been changing these past couple of weeks. and now when i google just prince, most of it is about princy harry or prince so and so and very little about prince, unless you do a specific search with other terms added. just a few weeks later and the world's attention is mostly gone. sure, when the autopsy comes out, there might be some coverage, but the world has largely moved on. and just like the quickness of how his body was cremated and left this earth, now the news and stories about him are also fading. an entire life, talent unparalleled, and all that work he put into his craft, and so quickly the world has moved on from him. i am just so sad about that. You should be on Facebook and a member of all the Prince groups on there!! They are loaded with anything and everything about Prince!!
By the way, I am waiting untill after his birthday(7th June) and then, I am afraid that my life will have to carry on as normal as it was before we heard the news!! I will never forget Prince and everything he has brought me and done for me in my lifetime and I will always have his music(both released and unreleased) with me and he will always be a huge part of my life, but, there comes a time in everyones life when it is time to move on!! Quite a lot of my fave rock stars have died over the years(Michael Hutchence, David Bowie, to name just 2 of them, but each time I have decided as a mature, grown ADULT that you have to move on and just live with the memories!!

Me too Cardinal. Welcome to "the org", Mumio…they can have you, but I'll have your love in the end

Can you please recommend the best Prince FB pages?
Also I wish Prince had a known will with experts appointed to manage his estate. That way, they will ensure new projects.
Right now, I'm not completely convinced that his estate and music will be managed efficiently.

It happens. Life goes on. We can't expect the whole world to keep grieving for our favourite artist.

A few days after the shocking news of his passing, because there was so much overwhelming coverage I started compiling all the myriad online news articles, obituaries/remembrances, reviews and career retrospectives, and longer articles about Prince's life, music and influence on our culture, and have edited and ordered them (in a loose fashion) in order to print the whole thing and have it bound, for my own personal use. At present, this project is around 320 pages, text only! It'll be something to treasure in the future months and years, I'm sure.

I have been a Prince fan since I was 9 years old and his death truly hurt me, but yesterday before I went to work I gathered all my Prince stuff and I do mean everything. Posters, t-shirts,cd cases, books and vinyl and found the biggest boxes I have and went about the hurtful business of putting them away. I have not got around to putting them in the closet yet I guess it'll take a few more days to do that, but life has and will move on. As long as I'm alive Prince will always be in my heart and I have his gift of music to carry me along the way.

You may feel like that now, but that feeling will go away. Or at least soften. When my wife died and I found myself becoming less sad in the months afterwards, I almost felt guilty for not grieving more. But that phase was already behind me and it was just a sign that, like I said, life goes on no matter how unfair it may seem. No one grieves forever. (If you do, that's unhealthy.) And we will ALWAYS remember Prince.

Unfortunately, that's the real world that we live in today, where one day something is on top of the news and the next it's old news. In the world of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc, people move on very fast from one thing to the next. Nothing holds interest for very long, because everyone mind is on "internet speed mode" just like their computers, if you understand what I'm trying to say. It's just iike when Prince died, many didn't even really know him, but because he was a star, and his fans where shocked and saddened by his death, and it drew major attention, then everyone else was interested, and jumped on the bandwagon. That happens often in today's world. One day, something is big and has everyone's attention, and then the next it's not so big, and then on to the next big thing......that's just how life is now a days.

Sad story...last night the nurse that works with me had a patient who passed away and was found like that as we tried to save her in my mind I said a prayer for her soul and I thought about Prince and how the people who found him must've felt I guess in all this we all just want answers which aren't coming and we've blamed people and in hindsight that was wrong. I pray for our minds to heal along with theirs and for Prince fans to know he is with God and find comfort in that. [Edited 5/28/16 9:02am]

It's a testament to who he was that his death was so front and center for so long in modern culture. As for fans, we all grieve differently. No need to put your stuff away unless it makes you feel better. For me, I like to focus on how his music will be adopted by future generations, like the Beatles or James or Stevie. That's what will keep him alive. For example, I was in the car with my little girl the other day and Kiss came on. In her 2 year old voice, when it was over she said, "again"! So we played it again. Little girl Molly's Parade. I think Prince would like that.

Me too Cardinal. perhaps, as many others have said, it points to the quickness, instant gratification, and short attention span of modern life. if someone with his monumental talent, after years and years of perfecting his craft and performing, can disappear from the mass collective consciousness so quickly, that does not bode well for the non famous or those whose lives have not had such a massive influence. to think that all of us, even prince, are just speckles of sand in the universe is kind of mindblowing in its sadness. i suppose for the faithful, it is a testament to the power of the divine. but i ain't gonna be pulling any more on that thread, at least not in this forum... I agree. People have short attention spans. On the other hand I also agree with the poster who said staying stuck in grief is not healthy. It is a process and I need to feel my feelings. I can't ignore or deny them. I also agree that Prince would want us to feel some joy that we had him here. For me that means not forgetting about him, but simply asking God (and Prince) to help me..."How do you want me to be with this all?" Mostly I am very disappointed with the tributes. Stevie has done his best and can't make all the decisions but everyone else should've done a lot better. The public matters. He deserved SO much better

I read on here that the sheriff stayed with Prince and that makes me feel better to know that someone watched over him in death. Bless that man.

Prince's legacy is intact. We needn't worry about the short attention span of the world...his legacy is 100% cemented and he will always be remembered as one of the greatest artists of all time.
