Thank you for reminding people what it is like to work as a musician. He gave his all and I hope that he knew most people did appreciate him.

He gave EVERYTHING. I really believe that. EVERYTHING.

All his love, time, energy, passion, emotions and spirit. He used himself up, and I believe he didnt even realize he was pushing his luck. He was that singleminded in his mission 24/7/365 - then poof. gone. sad

Well shit James got plenty of excercise beating womens asses....he was something else and probably to old and stubborn to die lol

[Edited 5/29/16 16:58pm]

lol . That biopic on him starring Chadwick Boseman was something else too. One day I'm hoping for a great Prince one too. Might have to be a trilogy though!

Yes everything. That's why he had to do the PP Gala. Behind all of this I see a very vulnerable, toughtful man. Not selfish at all. It looks like he had to fulfil his own image he had created. He had to be Prince. If you appear to be so strong there is no place for weakness and sickness. I wish he had let it go and just be him.

Yes, I really believe he did. I would have been more than satisfied with even half of what he gave if it meant he would still be with us.

But alas, that was not his way.....he did everything to the utmost. sigh

You know when Prince was performing like that in the 80's and 90's we all loved it and it never crossed my mind that he was physically hurting himself just trying to make his fans happy and yes I know he also did it cuz he loved it, but honestly if it meant that he would live to see 80 I wouldve preferred to just have him sit and play the instruments, but I know that the way he lived his life was already planned for him to do that.

I guess. But then I think of James Brown and wonder how the heck he got to his 70s. lol

James Brown took a lot of drugs and he did scale back the dancing. Not sure if he ever had surgery.

Babynoz I know you are amongst the ones who are missing him too. I noticed that already from your other posts. I don't post here everyday but I am always on the org.

This weeked I made several copies of all the bootlegs and albums that I have. It was somewhat like a therapy. I guess I am preparing myself mentally that there won't be any more music, so it helps me thinking I have plenty to keep me going like for ever by making several copies of everything I own. So mad.

Talk to anyone who has toured extensively on a regular basis for decades. I'm not talking about bands like the Rolliing Stones who go on tour after long breaks, but about people who perform regularly or tour without long breaks for decades.

You'll find singers-guitarists with neck and shoulder problems, bassists and guitarists with the same issues plus wrists problems -- and those guys don't dance or anything, they just stand and perform. Even Rick James had an issue caused by throwing his head back repetitively to the beat, I think it was described as rock star whiplash? I'm not even going to get into what happens with longtime drummers.

Not only did Prince did all of this combined, but he danced his ass off, did the splits and jumped from risers. He first did so in platform shoes when he was very young, then in heels. Go ahead, put on some heavy platform shoes and jump from an height of four or five feet. On second thought don't do it and take my word for it : landing, you feel your ankles and all the bones in your feet take a violent blow. Once won't kill you, but repetitively, you might as well have someone beat your feet with a wooden stick, it's less damaging.

So yes, Prince really abused his body punishingly to entertain. No wonder he was in pain if those guys simply holding guitars throwing their head back to the beat eventually develop musculo-skeletal issues.

It's common knowledge that Steven Tyler almost made himself wheelchair bound by slapping his feet against the stage to the beat of the music. I think it was one of the causes to him relapsing from drugs/alcohol. He had extensive physical therapy for years and surgery to repair the damage. Notice, he doesn't do this movement anymore.

Thank you. Hardly anybody appreciates how demanding performing can be. I danced onstage with George Clinton and Sir Nose during a Pfunk show ONE time and I was worn out just from the heat of the stage lights. eek

I don't understand why he had to have PP Gala. That day/night he got overmedicated for the second time. And It was just to show everyone he was ok, but we knew that already cause he had tweeted, and wanted him to rest. So why was he not resting? He put himself so much under pressure by the media prior to that Moline event, and we know he hated things like that, so I am struggling to understand why he had the PP Gala. It's very unlike the Prince I imagined to be. Wasn't he usually not caring about the media? If so, why was he so concerned, about what? What was he trying to get across? To whom?

Prince I will always miss and love U.

Yes, it's very hard for oldtime fans. It's good to know that I am not the only one feeling this way. Too many memories with him and surely Prince was with me as far as I can remember being me - mighty long time.

I think it was a knee-jerk business reaction . Prince has rarely had any public health scares, and he was planning more dates for touring. He wouldnt want promoters to be afriad to book the tour in their venues - since he booked everything almost last minute - the public health scare would give promoters pause before booking the P&M tour.

There seems to be something about the extreme intensity of the artistic life in addition to the rigors of performance. So many great artists, writers, and musicians died much younger than Prince (John Keats 25, Emily Bronte 30, Charlie Parker 34, Mozart 36, van Gogh 37, Rimbaud 37, John Coltrane 40, etc).

Any woman who has ever lived with a man can answer that. Trying to get even a regular guy with a regular job to take proper care of themselves, take off from work and see the doctor for regular check ups is a monumental chore, much less trying to get them to stay in a hospital. I can't say that all men are like that but all ones I know sure are.

I was worried over the emergency landing but it was when he announced that party that I became alarmed because I had a feeling he wasn't being careful enough. I was hoping that if he didn't want to stay in Illinois that he would allow himself to be hospitalized when he got home.

But he had that "show must go on" mentality that is common amongst entertainers too.

Interesting viewpoint. I didn't look at it from the business point of view, but of course you are right. At the same time he obviously underestimate his health condition. He thought he would be fine with the overmediation as he used to be. Still a bit of a risky decision. On the other hand he may have had many other occassions like in Moline which nobody knows about. I know about addicted people, they take risks to the extreme limit.

However, nobody knows how addicted he was so this is all speculation.

He wasn't even fit for the Atlanta show. He should have cancelled all shows and not give anybody an explanation. All the other entertainers keep doing this all the time, but he had to tour non-stop. I am wondering if we were too demanding, honestly.

someone posted a link in one of the other threads called VIP Syndrome - where a celebrity can sometimes elude typical procedures because caretakers become starstruck. I fear some of that may play into this as we find out more information.

Im not sure Prince had anyone around him he would listen to...and if 'agitated' as its said he was in the last few days...it would make it even more difficult to get him to take more care.

My hubby is a major pain in the ass when he's not feeling right and wont admit it - I cannot imagine the wrath of a pissed off Prince who doesnt want to be told want he doesnt want to hear.

I was hoping he would postpone the shows for at least a month since it was said at the time that he had the flu. You do not get over the flu in one week at his age so even if it turns out that it really was the flu he still should have been more careful.

grouphug I was very worried too.

I'll be watching the scandalous video in honour to him the whole week as I used to back then clinging on to things now that meant to me the most. I am very sad folks. He was more than an icon, a very unique special being who should have been much more appreciated. There are absolutely no words that can describe him. I have never been a fan of anybody except him, so you know how I feel same like you all feel. Just numb and by the end of this week it'll be worse after watching the video.

i feel like you do...i've been in it sime i'm 12 i'm 52 now - i can finally listen t a whole song but nothing prepared me for a world without Prince in it. I feel the absence of his energy in the universe, if that makes any sense. Like the balance of the universe if off-kilter now - thats how heavy and full of life he was...that his absence has thrown my universe out of balance.

Tell me about it....husband and two grown sons here, disbelief I'm going to worry my damn self to death trying to deal with them when they get sick. I imagine that Prince was quite a handful even when he felt fine so it would have been no easy task.

It would have taken nothing short of a battle hardened, tough, old ass nurse every bit as ornery as P to make him listen. You know how they do....give him the tough love and then baby him up until he was putty in her hands. Those types of women have no regard for vip nonsense.

There was another article posted here also that stated how agitated he had become to the point where they were calling NY and Cali so I thought that could mean they actually were trying hard to find someone that he would listen to.
