It was originally for I'll Do Anything, with Nick Nolte & Tracy Ullman. If you watch the movie, she actually says some of these lyrics, as regular dialog, when she leaves her kid with Nick.

There's actually a whole boot of songs Prince did for the movie, including a gazillion takes of the song "Wow" (not the same as from AOA). The music was never used (they hated it), and the movie was rewritten as a regular drama, instead of a musical.

Chaka covered it on Come 2 My House, and as noted by langebleu, his version is on Girl 6.

Some of the "I'll do anything" demos are nice. Prince at the piano playing and kind of beatboxing.

Didn't some of Nick Nolte's vocals leak? They make Jughead sound geat.

I'll do anything, There is lonely, Be my mirror, Don't talk to strangers, Rest of my life, Make Believe... I love all these songs; the Prince versions. It's a nice little Prince piano EP.

This was one of the first songs I decided to listen to the night the news broke. The piano/guitar chords on the chorus are so beautiful, but sad when put together with the lyrics.

This is one of my favourite Prince songs, I'veprobably mourned more with this as much as others have with SISIA.
