Prince to resume Piano & a Microphone Tour following hospitalization, rehab

Pop superstar Prince will resume his critically-acclaimed Piano and a Microphone Tour next month in St. Louis, according to a press release issued by the performer's publicist.

The announcement follows weeks of speculation that the performer had overdosed on painkillers at his Paisley Park estate.

In early May, reports surfaced that Prince had entered an unnamed California rehab facility for treatment of an undisclosed medical ailment.

The rehab stay followed a widely-publicized medical scare in late April. Prince was reportedly found unconscious by staff at his home and recording studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota. Local television reports showed the performer being taken by ambulance from Paisley Park, and he was reportedly hospitalized in Minneapolis for several days.

The scare occurred just one week after his last performance in Atlanta, Ga., and a subsequent medical emergency that diverted his private plane to Moline, Ill. on his return flight to Minneapolis following that concert.

"Prince is eager to resume performing, and says that his health has never been better," according to a press release issued by the singer's publicist Wednesday. "He sends his love and thanks for the many outpourings of support he has received from all of his friends and admirers."

The press release did not address rumors of an upcoming live album release, which has been widely discussed on social media since reports first surfaced that Prince had entered rehab.

Tickets for the upcoming show at the Fabulous Fox Theatre are scheduled to go on sale Saturday, July 30, at 10:00 A.M. More information is available on ticketmaster.com.
