The Birthday Parade Show. (and my Parade cover tribute painting)

Has anyone 'remastered' it? Is there a good quality version of it 'out there'? Not asking, just for info only.

.

I recorded it on VHS when it aired on UK telly in probably 1986/7, I've still got it somewhere, but I've not watched it in probably 18 years. I've seen a couple of versions on YT etc since he passed away. They all look terrible. confused But the show itself...Whoa. My favourite era.

Here's my Parade cover tribute.. biggrin

It was bootlegged many times on DVD but 3 years ago there was a massive bulk of video leaks covering all pro-shot shows in the maximum available quality.

There are 2 versions of that show from that leak: the European version and the Japanese edit which is shorter. I'm not sure if there was also an American edit that may have been different from the European cut, but if there was it wasn't included in the package.

Both are obviously from TV recordings or maybe someone even put their hands on an original tape sent to TV channels, but they have VHS quality, so don't expect crystal clear image or sound quality, but they're decent enough.

Strangely and sadly enough there is NO digital version of the original 2 parts VHS release of Lovesexy Live. We have the original TV broadcast, the Japanese TV broadcast and the LD version, but the original release version seems lost forever sad

That painting is really cool man! You've got a talent. I tried to pencil draw that cover when in was a kid and it ended up looking like Freddie Mercury. That was me doing my best as well.

Thanks for the info. I'm no expert but i know for fact their have been restorations done by commited fans of other artists that have yielded amazing results. I'm hoping for something similar with Prince's 80s broadcasts.

Lovesexy live was broadcast on Channel 4 in the UK. I recorded it at the time. I bought the two VHS videos when they came out too. Still got them. Just nothing to play them on! lol

Great job. For a split second I thought it was the actual cover. One of my favorite P albums.
