Eek, me too. I'm tired and over a lot of today's singers/musicians. I'm in my 30's and I dont' listen much to music of today. In fact, since Prince left us, I've been listening to more 80's and some early 90's.

Why does anyone need a day? It's just for that year, and it's just pomp and circumstance. In Minneapolis, every day was Prince day.

dont stress , it's just a PR stunt set up by the record company, prob passing on a few free tickets to the local council office in payment..it means nothing.

But its not so much about the day. Its the principle. Prince is a Legend and Icon but more specifically Prince pretty much innovated and enhanced the music scene down IN Minnesota and has done a lot for the state. Its downright laughable they would give it to Beyonce OVER PRINCE. I mean c'mon. I laughed so hard when I read that bullshit. Beyonce is very overrated to the point its hilarious now. What groundbreaking thing has she done for Minnesota that would warrant her to be celebrated for a day? Ridiculous

I thought the same thing. I was having a conversation and someone asked the question, "since her name is her brand, wouldn't she have to give permission for the state to give her the day?' I don't know if thats true but it's a good question.
