Love Thy Will Be Done is a true gem in his vast catalog of great recordings

It's one of his best lyrical works for sure. The version with the NPG from the Gold Experience era is incredible musically, just want Prince's vocals instead of Sonny's on it.

The song is actually a co-write between Martika and Prince. She wrote the lyrics as a personal prayer and he fashioned them into a song.

For me, the Paris 98 version satisfies that want. Very easy to get hold of, at the moment, too.

Love the song but to me this is certainly NOT one of his best and most beautiful songs, it's a bit too simple to be his best song ever, besides he co-wrote it with Martika.

Just as a quick example: Condition of The Heart is just one song that is way more beautiful, more complex and deep, same goes for If I Was Your Girlfriend etc.

the song is great but the story and context of its creation shows more about the man, grabbing the journal and taking someone elses words and pumping out a very beautiful song.

on a side note I was shocked out how Martika looked on the Aussie interview (which predated us losing prince by a month so she didn't comment about that obviously but called the song their musical child) - she looked much more angular than ever and her gums looked receded and discoloured.. they asked her what she did since her albums and it was awkward, she said she had been married for fifteen years and that she and her husband have a beautiful d......og !

anyway, I hope she is OK and that her concert goes off nicely, might get my wife a ticket
