I wish he was still here but just trying to look at the positive side, somehow. I know it's a stretch. I saw the Atlanta shows and he was still an incredible performer, but he's at peace now and that is something.

Prince is gone, but because he was so alive with music, he will live on forever and a day.

Mozart had an even sadder death at a younger age, but look at how he is remembered now. Prince is in a great position to be considered one of the finest seminal artists of the recording age. Where Mozart was restricted to music sheets, Prince could record his compositions direct to tape. He is flat out the best multi-instrumentalist singer songwriter arranger producer in history so far, the best one man band ever -- then he was also a superb bandleader, coaxing every ounce of talent out of his musicians and training them to obey his cues like a drill sergeant, and it's all on soundboard recordings that have enthralled many fans including your humble Orger.

So yes, Prince is gone, but he's never going away again. His songs will be covered, his recordings will be remastered, at least some of his unreleased music will be made available, you have the rest of your life to savour his legacy, far more than fans of other artists can hope for.

What has helped me deal is to know that while Prince was huge to all of us, we had him until he was almost 58. The fans of Lennon, Elvis fans, etc. had it much worse.

John was only 40 and Elvis only 42 when they passed.

Look at how much magic / music Prince produced since he was their ages.

No matter what age Prince passed, it would have never been long enough.

Because nothing like Prince ever lasts for eternity. We can simply feel lucky that Prince happened in our time, and recording technology exists.

How would you feel if every pop artist active on the radio and charts was Prince - and I don't mean sounds and looks like Prince - but was basically Prince version 1 thru 24, recording and releasing songs all the time? Wouldn't that get a bit dull?

"Oh no it's Prince 19 on the radio now, this one is a bit metaller than Prince 12 but it's Prince so it's OK".

It'd be like the first version of the Matrix. There'd be no reason to be dissappointed, there'd be no conflict. Then Carlin Q Williams would release his first album and you'd think "what in the heck is this? this sounds new!" and it would make you question the nature of reality.

I am a John Lennon fan and we sure got robbed of his talent. Just 17 years of releasing music. Be thankful and joyful for the time that Prince was here making great music. From 1978 to 2015 -- thirty seven years of releases! Thirty seven years of music he left us!

I don't agree. I find it hard to imagine an artist doing all he did but then wouldn't we have thought that before he came along anyway ? the man has left us, his music has not, new musicians have all the music that inspired Prince to draw on and the everything from Prince himself, even if no single artist comes anywhere close we could wind up with a net effect of more quality music saturating the market.
