Thanks, I am probably one of the younger ones on here and with his music so hard to get unless you pay for it, I kinda put it off a bit.

I knew SOTT was one of his most critically acclaimed based off reviews I read so I went for that.

I know I signed up after he died but I truly loved his music before that, honest! razz

I lurked on this site for years before I signed up, and then for years afterwards. Doesn't make me any more or less of a fan than people who've been on here a zillion years and made 10,000 posts, or people who signed up last week. Same for you. You obviously know your stuff and have great taste in music, so who cares smile

I was a lurker 2! I dont think I had anything to say until he passed sad

Me too. I remember seeing the dust sleeve for parade and thinking how perfect he looked. The whole sound was like clean crisp food compared to deep fried gunk. Perfection!

1981 - My aunt had the Controversy album. I just loved looking at him on the cover and the poster. My songs were Controversy, Let's Work, and Do Me Baby.

1997. I grew up of course loving the MTV videos and hits but it all really clicked for me in 1997 and tbh I don't even remember why or how. Just finally got wise somehow lol. Perhaps part of it was that I was newly out of college and more isolated than I had been before in terms of always having friends around me and, frankly, none of my friends had ever been big Prince fans so maybe it was me having more space to explore my own thing and learning more about myself without so much influence from others. Towards the end of that year, I was able to see Prince in concert for the first time! Exciting times, I keep going back to that concert, that night, in my head, somewhat wishing it were then! Even though I'm in a much better place personally now, in light of what's happened, I kind of wish I could go back to that . sad

We all want the stuff that's found in our wildest dreams. . .

You had one cool aunt back then. Back in 1981 I imagine my aunt was listening to some dreadful guy wearing a knitted sweater, casual slacks and slip on shoes... sitting by an open coal fire singing middle of the road crud. Not cool at all, and no Do Me Baby anywhere in sight. I think she'd have died of shock had you played her Jack U Off or Sexuality.

I fell in love with his voice after my dance teacher used Lets Go Crazy as our dance show finale song, but I didn't know how sexy he was until I saw a screenshot of him in the Black Sweat music video

Forever In My Life, forever in my heart. I love you Prince Rogers Nelson heart
