First Song Prince Ever Wrote!?!? Hi fam,
I've been visiting this page long before I ever posted. You all have such a vast knowledge of Prince's life.
I think Prince is one of the most prolific songwriters, ever. His ability to change genre's, styles, format, etc has always amazed me. I've been paying attention to the evolution of his writing skills.
I'm curious, Does anyone know what the first song he ever wrote was? Has he ever spoken publicly about it, or his writing process?
Thanks <3 | |

When I was 7 I'm pretty sure I was in my backyard playing in the dirt. Prince was writing songs. If anyone was ever born to do anything, Prince Rogers Nelson was born to make music.

I think his first recorded song was "Just Another Sucker" .. he composed it for 94 East in '75 Show your heart to me.

I don't think that's correct. There are about 8 or 9 leaked tracks, all instrumentals, that were leaked recently. It's Prince, playing almost everything, here and there, with Bobby and Andre I think. I heard it predates the 94 East stuff. I've not found much else on it. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

when you say 'instrumentals' are you talking about the Loring Park sessions (@ Owen Husney's office) ? as far as I know they were recorded in 1977 . the first 94 East songs were recorded in December 1975 . of course you could be referring to some earlier instrumentals I'm unaware of

Hmmm, could have been that, yeah. I guess I wasn't clear on the dates. They still sound earlier than 94 East stuff to me. I still kinda wonder if the 94 East stuff was truly the first recordings with Prince. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.
