I once went to Heathrow airport on the intuition that Prince might be arriving there by plane. Granted, it was the day before Prince kicked off the UK leg of the Nude Tour, so it was afair guess but I just went on the offchance because I "intuited" it. This probably makes me more illogical than addicted.

He wasn't there.

In my youth I could sense when a new album was about to be released. I would listen to the radio all day every day until the first single was released. It usually didn't take more then a week. I made sure to have a blank tape ready and recorded it off the radio when it came on. After it went off I'd go straight to the phone and call the local record store, oh I'm sorry, wrecka stowe, to find out when the album was going to be released. On at least one occassion that I remember there was no release date set so I had to call them back once a day every day until I got the information I wanted. On the day of it's release I would hop on a bus and trek up to the mall with a heart full of anxiety and anticipation which only got worse on the trip back home. My pain was quickly soothed, however, as soon as I popped the tape in the deck, hit play, and that first chord struck. All the anxiety, frustration, anticipation, and worries of the day were forgotten, if only temporarily, as I lost myself in what to this day seems like the voice God.

There's been a concern expressed, especially from Milty that Prince Addiction may be affecting some Orgers lives. I work at the Rick James School of Preventative Prince Addiction and have provided the following questionnaire for those orgers who feel that they may be suffering. An affirmative answer to 3 or more questions may indicate that you should seek professional help for your problem.

1. Do you lie to those close to you so that you can get your Prince fix?

2. Do you find yourself listening to Prince even when you don't want to?

3. Have you spent money intended for things like bills and food on Prince?

4. Do you have an intimate relationship with Prince so that in a strange way you only feel real when listening to or watching him?

5. Do you prefer to listen to Prince throughout the day rather than only at specific times?

6. Others have expressed repeated serous concern over your behaviour, regarding Prince.

7. You feel a sense of increased tension and excitement when you know that you have the opportunity to listen to or watch Prince.

8. It would be more painful for you to give up Prince then to give up a close friend.

9. You have regularly stolen or helped yourself to other peoples Prince collection, even though you had enough money to buy your own.

10. You use Prince as both a comfort and a strength.

Yeah, SO!?

2. Do you find yourself listening to Prince even when you don't want to?

nod

3. Have you spent money intended for things like bills and food on Prince?

Well who needs that much food anyway!?

4. Do you have an intimate relationship with Prince so that in a strange way you only feel real when listening to or watching him?

hmm

5. Do you prefer to listen to Prince throughout the day rather than only at specific times?

Got any better ideas?

6. Others have expressed repeated serous concern over your behaviour, regarding Prince.

My wife always tells me that I "have issues", does that count?

7. You feel a sense of increased tension and excitement when you know that you have the opportunity to listen to or watch Prince.

An occassional erection over Prince is perfectly normal and harmless.

8. It would be more painful for you to give up Prince then to give up a close friend.

Well yeah! My friend's can't play guitar like he does!

9. You have regularly stolen or helped yourself to other peoples Prince collection, even though you had enough money to buy your own.

STEP 1

We admitted we were addicted to Prince and that our lives had become unmanageable.

Repeat after me:

God, grant me the serenity
To accept that I cannot change Prince,
To change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.

Yes! I...can't...stop

Have you spent money intended for things like bills and food on Prince?
Only a few times...Hey, what would you do if the rent was due but your only copy of Parade was irreparably scratched?? mad

Do you have an intimate relationship with Prince so that in a strange way you only feel real when listening to or watching him?
I'm not listening to Prince right now and I can't feel my hands!! Am I really typing this? Dude, I am freaking out!!!

Others have expressed repeated serous concern over your behaviour, regarding Prince.
Some family members tried to stage an intervention, but most of them left with paisley-shaped bruises and never came back.

You feel a sense of increased tension and excitement when you know that you have the opportunity to listen to or watch Prince.
nod Ah, that beautiful stomachache...

It would be more painful for you to give up Prince then to give up a close friend.
All my friends know I'd sooner throw them off a fucking bridge. They're cool with it.

You have regularly stolen or helped yourself to other peoples Prince collection, even though you had enough money to buy your own.
evillol Okay, I've never gone this far!

yeah it was an early version of 1999 when cds first came out. it even says it on the back that to allow room for all the tracks, DMSR had to be omitted. fortunately, the 1999 cd does come with it now but i still haven't picked it up.
