Why the News Blackout?

I met Prince when he was with Mayte. Amazing is an understatement. I asked him if he had any advice for a fellow musician. He whispered in Mayte's ear and she said 'Believe in God and practice a lot'

For me, Prince is the epitome of musicianship, showmanship all rolled into one package.

His tragic end leaves a blankness and I'm really confused on the news blackout on the circumstances of his death. Sure, we should celebrate his life, but as fans we should also be allowed to know what really happened to our hero.

Peace

I think there was some health issue that he didn't want everyone to know about so I am torn by this. I don't like the way it has been handled. All the comments about his friends having to keep his secret along with the highy unbelievable stories of death due to flu/hip pain (they could have thought of a better cover story) - and I hate the drug addict rumours (not that I presume he was any sort of saint - just not the type to be so out of control that he OD'd and then repeat the same mistake accidently a week later (after having lots of tests and check ups from doctors of course)).

At first I really wanted an answer - but then I think of how some people like to twist things. There is a reason P stopped giving regular interviews. I am now thinking he is gone, answers won't bring him back, let him RIP. Anyway, it will all start up again when the COD is announced.

Because TMZ, the National Enquirer are not news. Wendy Williams is not a reliable news source.

Respectable news outlets like the New York Times are waiting for the actual autopsy results. They are letting the authorities do their investigation. There is a sticky for real updates. Also, most of us (I'd like to think) know how to use Google. We don't need 20 threads on the 1st page speculating if Prince was murdered by bigfoot and the six million dollar man.

That's why threads re: speculation are locked/removed from the org. While some folks may consider absolute bullshit as news, thankfully there are smart folks around here that see right through that shit and are able to deal with it so the rest of us aren't subjected to it.

I agree... but we all know speculation threads are going to continue. When the autopsy findings come out this place will become a shit storm of theories, and outlandish speculation. It will be worse than it is now.

All the speculation from fans has been embarrassing, hysterical and ignorant.

Just because you cry yourself to sleep every night doesn't give you to right to spew just any paranoid tale you mused about while overobsessing.

Alan Leeds said that once prince told him he had a heart mrrmur and I also read he took heart medication somewhere. I'm just wondering if there's a connection.

- "A heart murmur is an extra or unusual sound heard during a heartbeat."

'

Could that be the secret you're referring
To?

It's all so confusing why our man died.

Areogram, thank you for saying that. Yes, the speculation is really embarrassing, I can't believe how ignorant some people are here. Imagine if people working for Paisley Park read some of the wacko stuff here while they are planning to open Paisley Park as a museum, they must be wondering how they are going to handle all the hysterical, ignorant fans. They will have to nail down every item on display. Turning that place into a museum could be a nightmare.

I am not referring to anything inparticular - only the odd events in the lead up to his death followed by the comments from the P camp. Too many of them are talking as if they knew beforehand or were told the cause at the time of his death. I can only see 2 possibilities from this - he had a serious health problem they all knew about or he was so out of control with his medication that he overdosed twice in a week and all his friends knew his life was on the line and did little about it. I find the latter too hard to believe for so many reasons but that does not mean I am right.

a wise thing is to wait for the police investigation to make the conclussion,

and to ignorre and not to comment on the wild nasty rumours in the tabloids.

They can continue, but they will be reported and locked/deleted.

Not sure how hard it would be, but I would create a forum on this site called "Insane" so people can go in there and post their theories, conspiracy theories, speculations and just overall moronic inconsiderate nonsense.

Crazy how people can have so much disrespect for someone they supposedly cared about.

I have a feeling that the results are in, and they're trying to somehow figure out how to release the findings. Damage control, if you will.

There might also be other factors at work, such as a family-directed gag order or even a federal investigation into drugs.

I think there is some truth in what TMZ and the Enquirer are reporting. Look at Prince in 2013/2014. Then look at him in late 2015 and 2016. No one ages that quickly, especially Prince, unless you are not well. Something other than hip pain was affecting Prince's health.

I don't think it is a news blackout as much as it is a wait for the answer. There was a time when anything even something as simple as the family meeting was news. It may be important to us but the rest of the world is not concerned. Don't discount TMZ and the National Enguirer, there was a time when the national enquireer broke a lot of news stories that turned out to be true. The problem with TMZ is that you get everybody's opinion. Plus who wants to hear about Prince in the same breath as the Kardashians. Get off Princes Stage

Beautiful, Loved and Blessed

Thank You Prince

I'm sure Sheila E., members of his family, Kirk Johnson, and those in Prince's small inner circle already know what happened to him. They are probably dreading the day the public finds out the truth.
