Your fondest Prince memory or possession?

Please share your fondest Prince memory...I know it can be hard to chose just one but maybe some of you have something that is extra special to share or maybe you own something that is extra special?

Fondest memory: Aftershow - Spirit niteclub Dublin 2002. Mind blowing on the guitar

Fondest possession: prince love symbol chain - which I am wearing around my neck right now and was also wearing that night in 2002 biggrin

.

Another 'interesting' memory (4 me) was the Pod niteclub Dublin 1995 - he had 2 concerts in the Point - 2nd nite was the best - good sound and he showed amazing vocal range that nite. In the Pod niteclub after the first concert myself and a friend waited until 3 or 4 am but he didnt play an aftershow that nite and was in the VIP section. I remember then observing about 8 very tall security guys (who looked like part of his entourage) kind of casually materialising about the place in the main club - so i knew something was going to happen - then suddenly (and it was amazing to see) the security guys kind of instantly created a corridor space in the dancefloor crowd (by standing in 2 lines and extending their arms - like parting the red sea) so that Prince could could come from VIP section out across the main club dancefloor and out the side exit of the club - it all happened in a matter of seconds - im tall but all i saw was Princes back and then he was gone... eek that was the first time i had ever been anywhere near close to my musical hero and I remember thinking 'damn hes gone but that was some exit'. cool

Telling my friend who's also a huge fan we should see Prince again if he does a greatest hits tour (with a tone of regret I couldn't go to Musicology), and coincidentally I heard on the news the next day Welcome to Canada tix are going on sale in the next day or two and frantically contacted him to plan it. Just in time! That was the only show of his I'd been to and so thankful I saw him than not at all or it would have been even harder to process his death. I saw him in passing near Flow 93 a couple of months before I even knew he had relocated to Toronto, but thought there's no way! I was staring hard at him and this dude was dressed like him in dark shades and heeled boots. Something told me to just let him be and not follow him to figure it out. I saw no security around him so naively thought it's not him ugh!

Purpleelectricity was really cool when I went but the people I went with were really ignorant to his music and I really wish I didn't go with most of them, but it was really nice discovering/re discovering some tunes and talking to the dj about his music, and watching concert clips I'd never seen before. I'm not the kind of fan who could discover new Prince material all at once, it would feel like too much rich chocolate, for me it's been lifelong.

When Sign 'O' the Times left the regular movie theatre and went to the $1 theatre, it was showing twice a night--7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. My friend and I attend it each night it was there for a full month. That's 60 viewings in 30 days. After the ninth or tenth night, the theatre manger stopped charging us, and eventually he gave us the $1 popcorn for free as well. At that time, it felt like the greatest 30 days of my life!

You'll probably have seen from various threads that I have some rare collectors items, but my favourite possession, if you can call it that, beyond gold discs or clothing etc is my phone number.

Can you guess what it is? lol

Those are some great memories and items guys!

I will share with you a couple of mine...

First memorable moment was went I went to see him at the Arsenio Hall Show in 1991. I have seen him in concert 13 times and this was one of my favs because I was so close and the performance was AHMAZING. Then, he came by us and gave me and my friend tambourines!

Another very special memorable experience was when I was at his Glam Slam club in LA. To make a long story short two of my friends that were jealous of each other began to argue and almost fight...So i got between them to stop them but the security saw me pushing them both away from each other and thought I was the trouble maker and kicked me and one of my 1 friend out of the club. The bouncer at the front door wouldn't let us back in so we sat on the curb almost crying. Minutes later someone opened a side door and asked why were were sitting there....we explained and he let us in...well this door led to the VIP room. Nobody was really in there yet...maybe 3 random people. We decided to dance...we were the only ones on the dancefloor.... dancing with each other...when GUESS WHO walks in??? He was with two bodyguards and Carmen Electra...but she doesn't come in with him she leaves though the exit door. SO there is Prince..and he walks over within 5 feet from us and stops and watches us dance. He stood there for a at least a whole song watching us..smirking and sucking on a lollipop. So we put on a show of course ...lol..dancing seductively etc. then suddenly... he was gone. We saw Carmen and him leave out the door and get into a limo that just stayed parked right outside for like 30 min or so...people started coming into the VIP so when he came back in with Carmen they sat at a table surrounded by bodyguards and I tried to approach and the bodyguard wouldn't even let me get close. They left again for the limo..they went back and forth from the club to the limo a few times....but we never got any closer than that. I have seen Carmen there a few times and chatted briefly with her but nothing serious.

Another times at Glam Slam (I was a regular there of course) he threw a tambourine to me. So my prized possessions are my tambourines! I have one with the orignal symbol on it from Aresenio Hall and one with his current symbol from Glam Slam.

many really, but i'll share a couple. One of the most profound experiences in my entire life was listening to Little Red Corvette in the dark as a teenager. I'd heard the song on the radio and it changed my life, I loved the radio edit so the full version was epiphaneous (is that a word?) It was a magic moment that I recall like yesterday. I couldn't believe that a song i already thought was impossibly good in radio format was even better in the full version. I honestly felt like i was in touch with the infinite, in touch with divinity when i listened to that at 15. I played it over and over again and i was so attuned to life in that moment that i would rewind it on my walkman and I would stop each time right at the start of that song. That was what psychologists call a 'peak experience" and it changed my life, i haven't really been the same since.

Also, a couple years before this I used to listen to a tape of Controversy which my stepdad had bought off a guy who stole shit from peoples cars. I listened to it, in the dark, fascinated by this incredible euphoria I got from The lead single and then to be scared shitless by Annie christian. anyway, many more, Prince was a hero in the mythological sense and he overcame and accomplished much with amazing character.

This and my Musicology ticket stub. It's the only time I saw him in concert. I almost made it to the PR tour but family issues prevented that. His music/voice though is what made me a fan and that will be with me as long as I live wink

Favorite possession: My Name Was Prince, His Majesty's Pop Life, Strange Tales From The Rain. Just having all of this music.

Favorite memory -
.
Being at the soundcheck for the ONA Houston show. Such a great experience and something I never thought I'd see/hear outside of a bootleg. Prince running the band through the motions, sitting on the stage and taking questions from everyone. Even just having the doors open for the 50-75 of us there with NPGMC passes and walking in while the band was playing Let's Work was priceless. After the soundcheck, Prince disappeared before the show but all his guitars were still right in front of the stage, unguarded. We were in row 2, front and center, and my wife had the balls to touch one of the guitars.
.
The audience recording of that show that I found months later - you can hear my wife cheering. And only in the appropriate ways. Not some crazy loon who ruins a show.
.
Favorite possession -
.
Nothing especially rare, but a love my 12" vinyl of I Wish U Heaven parts 1, 2, and 3. Glad I bought it at a record store when it was released.

Fondest possession: All his music in my head.

Fondest memory: Actually shaking the man's hand by winning a radio contest in local swedish radio, back 1998, 16th of august. His firm warm grip of my hand, I will never ever forget. To hear his voice up front, with no speakers or anything else, just pure words from his mouth to my ear. The man was total magic the brief one minute I got to see him with approx 8 other people.

Him coming into that room, everyone lined up, him shaking everyones hand, and when he finished, took the exit, but turned in the very exit and smiled, saying loudly to everyone "That wasn't too bad, huh?"

fondest memory: One night during the Diamonds and Pearls shows in Rotterdam I was standing first row. At some point during the show he was playing his portable keyboard (Purple Axe). Then he put the keyboard on the floor, sat down on the floor with his back to the audience while jamming on it. I think I was 1m away, and it was great to see hime play from that distance.

fondest posession: A blouse Prince wore at a Nude Tour show (1990-06-03). A security guy took it from the stage and threw it in the audience and for once I was quick enough to grab it.

My scrapbooks/tour progs/gig stubs/vinyl etc. His (LoveGod) & the Lovesexy band's autographs from a london HMV signing.

Front & center seat last night of European Nude tour.

Seeing him (& meeting band members) at a few london clubs during Nude & D&P tours.

Two club memories always make me smile... standing outside a swanky west end club & he walks out, gets into the back of the car. As per everyone froze, inhaled & struggled 2 appear nonchalant lol Then a girl ran & threw all these loose flowers all over him in the back seat! eek biggrin

Another time dancing with some friends & P watchin frm above us in the VIP section cool
