New Movie Reference - "The Green Room" Watched the new movie, "The Green Room" last night. At one point, they are naming their top desert island artists to take with them. Prince was among the four or five mentioned.
Made me think about those kinds of references, and how this might be the last actually made while he was alive, though the movie was released after his death. Bitter sweet, but always nice to hear.
Movie was fair, by the way. Worth a watch on video. |

Hmm, I read this and thought "The Green Mile." Didn't Prince reference that movie in a song? |

I saw this film in the cinema, like, two days after Prince died. What was obviously intended as a cute joke instead became a touching tribute.
Tense movie, though... yikes!

Yeah, nice timing. Especially given its from a band posing as neo-Nazi death metal thrashers (or whatever it's called), who come clean at the end with Prince getting a name check as a member's favourite artist.
I remember Cameron Crowe talking about the scene in Vanilla Sky when Kurt Russell tells Tom Cruise you can judge a person on whether their favourite Beatle is John or Paul. Crowe claimed Cruise improvised his 'I always preferred George' line and he left it in. Which worked well as he died just as the movie came out. [Edited 5/22/16 12:41pm] |

My thoughts exactly. From cute joke to touching tribute.

On a side note, my wife, who is not a fan (but who has been shockingly supportive through this) said he's referenced so much in things like that, that she thinks he paid them to say it. lol. I'm like, no...he's just THAT good. |

Was the BAND neo-Nazi? I mean, the people they were fighting definitely were. But, I don't think they were. They were sent there blindly, I think. |

Yeah, they were just a typical punk band. They even had the audacity to play 'Nazi Punks, Fuck Off' as their first song, just to stir shit up. PRINCE: the only man who could wear high heels and makeup and STILL steal your woman! |

Thanks. The dude has so many songs, hard to keep track sometimes of precisely where a lyric comes from. |
