. You have to place the picture at a site that allows for uploading pictures on other sites. Photobucket or ImageShack, a site like that. You just easily upload your photo over there (just put it in the box that says "Upload Photo") and then they give you various links. Copy one and then paste it here. Just put the photo address between these: and it will show up in your post here. . Here's a photo of my three Rickenbackers I placed on PhotoBucket. The midnight blue one on the left is the same model Wendy used for PURPLE RAIN. Hers was custom painted purple...Ric doesn't sell purple guitars. If they did I would have bought one. . Doesn't have to sound amazing, as long as the feeling you get from just doing it is amazing. Every time I have it hanging around my neck I feel like I'm the second greatest guitar player on this flying ball and actually I'm not, but the feeling is so good!! I don't want a guitar right now, but would love a ukelele (this ain't a joke). Any orgers have any advice about this? My middle name is 'Leilani,' and my dad named me that after the song "Sweet Leilani." Would love to learn that tune (and a few others) on the ukelele. Thanks! "She made me glad to be a man"

I got an electric guitar from KMart on a black friday sale for $35. I also bought a white cloud for $1000. Save America - Stop Illegal Immigration. God bless America. PEACE

I woke up this morning, read the news we've all been waiting for/dreading and then... I hear my 8 year old playing his guitar. Randomly he's playing The Cross. I haven't heard him play it before. He's obviously been hearing my attempts. His skill level is far superior to mine. It was beautiful.

Really?? I've played guitar for close to 30 years. I honestly can't see how buying a guitar will honor Prince whatsoever.
The better you get with a guitar, the more you realize how much you don't know. It's very easy to play simple songs on a guitar and have it be somewhat recognizable. (ala The Cross). To play anything else, and not suck ass takes a lot of practice. A LOT. Some things months, some things years. I know plenty of people that went ahead and bought all the crap up front..guitar, amp, case, picks, tab books, etc.. One month later it's propped up against the exercise bike they also no longer use.
Honor Prince by enjoying his music. However, if you choose to learn to play a guitar, do it for yourself, but be prepared to spend the time to actually learn it. Only spend the $$ on a guitar if you can see yourself sticking with it.

I did this many years ago and. . .let's just say I'm not musically inclined lol. It's a very frustrating thing for me because I so wish I were, I wish I had that gift but I really just don't. I do still have the guitar though, maybe I should at least pick it up and strum a little bit and maybe go from there. but I bet I'm still very, very bad lol We all want the stuff that's found in our wildest dreams. . .

I don't think anyone expects to pick up a guitar and sound great...not for a very long time! I think the point for me was to fill that empty space with hard work and something creative. There's several negative comments on this thread which I don't really understand. Everyone has to start somewhere. I don't see the point in saying "don't waste your money, you'll never be any good" before someone even tries! Maybe it's not the point to be a brilliant guitarist? Maybe the point is just to do it?

You are absolutely correct. Gotta start somewhere, and people who are interested in learning a musical instrument should definitely give it a go! It's a wonderful feeling and skill. I was just warning those who felt compelled to do so, because they thought it might honor Prince.

. You tell 'em. . Thank God Prince at a young age did not possess the can't do attitude that some posters here are displaying. .

Give me 30 years and maybe I'll be as good as you Maybe I'll be rocking Wembley Stadium with my Zimmer frame... Or maybe I'll be sitting in my lounge room with my grandkids strumming a half decent version of The Cross. Either way sounds good to me! I'll honour Prince by not giving up. I'll honour him by working hard. I'll honour him by Keeping his music playing.

I had to google Zimmer frame...hahaha!
Good luck in your musical progression. The best part is, once you learn how to play, Prince will become just once part of your musical repoirtore. You might start with his music as your goal, but learning to play will open up a whole range of playing styles and possibilities!
And if anyone ever asks you how many guitars you need, the answer is always the same: "Just one more."

"Maybe the point is just to do it?" ...Exactly. P even said himself the guitar wasn't a easy instrument (although he made it look effortless). Be patient, but at the same time have fun......I've been playing for years and years and finally tonight learned my favorite P guitar solo ("Lady Cab Driver")...It's a never ending journey and it will pay off.

squires are good affordable guitars for beginners but like i said before have your instrument properly set up before playing... i suggest lighter strings and lower action.. it makes learning chords so much easier.

I already want another guitar. 😃 I want an electric... But I am going to make myself stick with my big old acoustic until Christmas. I'm definitely not buying a guitar on a whim... That said, any recommendations for a good starter electric that I can dream about for the next 7 months would be most welcome!

suomynona said: Great idea. You can put it next to the exercise machine that you bought to honor yourself -- but now only serves to put still wet clothes on to dry. LMAO...stop peeking in my windows...i do go through periods (like, since P passed), where my guitar, guitar stand, and amp and stationary bike, collect dust ...havent used the guitar to hang dry clothes yet...but the stationary bike has had socks, washcloths or bras hanging on it...cant lie [Edited 6/4/16 6:50am]

learning how to play guitar is one of the most challenging things ive ever done...fretting notes and chords with my left hand and fingers, can be painful and frustrating...at times, you think, "Fuck This, i cant do it"...but if you practice at least an hour a day, 4 or 5 times a week, the muscle memory starts to kick in and you can start enjorying it...its just being able to get through those extremely frustrating beginning stages...its not easy...not at all...i have so much respect for those who do it effortlessly...i aint there yet...
