These are all great, and her is another. This is from a preacher who plays multiple instruments who writes about how Prince inspired him to play many instruments. Then, he leads his choir in a rendition of "Purple Rain." Scroll down to the middle of the page to see the clop. http://www.joy105.com/dr-...-service/.

I'm really amazed that so many church groups are doing tributes to Prince. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

That first one - I can't. I hadn't planned on bawling tonight. I was a bit skeptical at "Jesus Died 4 U", but the harmonies were perfect. "4 The Tears In Your Eyes" - I'm over it. "the Cross" was meh. "Purple Rain" was good. Organ solo was ...interesting. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Wow, the first one got me thinking..
I had to check the lyrics to see if he changed anything...
This interpretation/context gave the song a totally different meaning.
Prince is soooooooo sneaky.....All these years I was so caught up in the beat and music and totally missed the message.
Homeboy took a gospel song and added some fast music and moves. Made you think it was all about him..
Even atheist were singing this song. Even in death the Easter Eggs keep coming...
Quentisentally Prince....lol

Quentisentally Prince....lol Yes singing it all solemn in a church does emphasize the religious meaning, but it was always there. It was always quite obviously about God/Jesus - "I'm not a human, I'm a dove, I'm your conscience, I am love, all I really need is to know that you believe..." Everything in that song fits the Christian narrative of redemption. "You're just a sinner I am told, I'll be your fire when you're cold..." But he does that brilliant thing of imbuing it with some ambiguity (and sexuality) that only Prince does so well. And by the way, "purple rain" is alluding to the "latter rain." Pretty obvious if familiar with SDA rhetoric. He clearly spent quite a bit of time going to church as a kid, and paid attention.

ok, just heard the pipe organ tribute medly of "Nothing Compares 2 U" and "Purple Rain"...this is deep. It's been a while but hearing this in a church gives an entirely different depth to his music. I love how the lights gu purple when the organist starts the medley.

My favorite tribute was the Sexy MF/Sister/Head/P Control/Jughead medley.

I saw the second vid (Trey McLaughlin & SOZ Prince Joint) a few weeks ago and I fell in love. I sang a lot on church and it reminded me so much of my old choir, I'd love to do a rendition of that someday. Such good tributes From now on, 4 U I shall be wild 💜

"I Would Die 4 U"...
I've listened to the song countless times, but never "heard" it. This rendition makes the religious aspect apparent. Someone posted that each verse is one part of Holy Trinity; 1st is God, 2nd is Jesus, 3rd the Holy Spirit.
