47, i'd assume the bulk of his fans would be in a range of 5-10 years younger than him. My parents loved him but that's not common. I recall one of my hs teachers who said he couldn't compare to the beatles, that's how most older folks see newer stuff so i'd say the majority of his fans are younger than him.

46, I was just turning 13 when I discovered 1999 in 1982 (I then asked for his previous albums from my parents but they only came back with For You and Prince (I did think about getting a paper round so I could buy the other 2 with my own money but I came to the conclusion that they would probably not last long in the house if I did) which was extremely disappointing). I then played his music every day (on repeat for hours) for 3 years solid, watched the videos I recorded from MTV (on our old Betamax) and plastered my walls with his photos. I didn't know any other Prince fans at the time (from small town UK). I can't believe he's gone, he was so full of life.
