Not sure I could handle the emotion It was a great night, with Prince gone you just had to manage your expectations. Larry to give him his due, was a great opener (his band played several Prince tunes). Cee Lo played a lot of his own stuff with a couple of Prince songs. The Time were great...really rocked it. Mark Ronson entertained the crowd as well. Lots of great fans, all celebrating Prince and having a good time.

Looking forward to tonight, might be a bit tight on time getting there though, can anyone who went last night confirm the following?
Did it run as per advertised times, 1st band at 7pm etc?
Also what was entry Q like, any probs? And was there plenty of room standing?
Many thanks Rob | |

Many thanks Rob Hi Rob, it was really laid back, and lots of fun (wasn't sold out last night btw so there were still some tickets on the door). It runs exactly to time, really punctual. So much so that I got there at 7.02 and Larry was already on. Same with Cee Lo, he was onstage bang on 8. Entry is fine and there's lots of room standing, it got busy as the night went on but it was a really good vibe. The only thing that didn't happen last night was that there was no encore with The Time, Larry and Cee Lo. Don't know why, but anyway Mark Ronson was really good at talking to the crowd and kept the party vibe going right until the end. Am sure you'll have fun...some great people there. T

I am guessing that it could be busier tonight as it's saturday. Last night, the queue wasn't too long (I started queueing around 6pm, got in about 6:30pm and there was still plenty of time to walk about the place and still get to the front before the show. People seem to arrive in waves throughout the show and by the end it was nearly full. I agree with tokyo, the vibe was excellent, especially during the Mark Ronson set, everyone was dancing and being so happy. Shame I had to leave before the end as I had to catch a train. CrystalVault said: I am attending on my own. I'll fly from Germany to London for the tribute. Wife and kids stay at home. I have to do this. Need some Prince-Family companionship. And I never saw Morris Day and The Time live. But did I understand right? The DJ-Set ends at 11 pm?
So sorry I didn't reply earlier I didn't mean to be rude. For those of you going there tonight YOU WILL LOVE IT ! I wish I could go again....what an experience. So wonderful to see everyone dancing together being happy celebrating the life of a legend. 💜💜💜 Feeling emotional now 😥

I don't know others on here felt about this but I found Larry Graham's speech and his performance of Nothing Compares 2 U and Purple Rain very moving, I couldn't stop my tears from falling... Still really glad I went as I needed to go through this. And there was also this amazing joyful party spirit and that made the whole night absolutely amazing, plus the fact that it was all for a good cause... Hats off to Autism Rocks for their brilliant organisation! Life Matters

A great night, mostly. Larry Graham's set was a very moving and sincere tribute to Prince, pretty much all Prince covers. Ceelo Green - pretty much all backing tracks complete with a sax player who wasn't very good at miming. Let's just move on The Time were superb as I expected. I left 5 minutes after Mark Ronson came on as he was lame and doing some particularly bad scratching.
I'd be happier with Larry Graham and The Time doing full sets. Larry proved what a class act he is in particular. I also liked Morris' dig at Mark Ronson.

Agree, tho I still think Mark Ronson contributed brilliantly to the party atmosphere at the end. EVERYONE danced during his set. And I ended up having to catch a later train... Life Matters

. I was already really looking forward to tonight - as a way to start moving past the sadness and to celebrate the music. . Now, having read these reviews of last night's show I'm even more pumped. . Tonight we're gonna party... .

Thank you to all involved! This was such a beautiful night - absolutely amazing. There were signs up that the show was being filmed. Does anyone know if it will be released or broadcast? I miss Prince so much. X

Went on Saturday - really mixed emotions, but hoped to hear some great music and a fitting tribute.

^^ Are you sure Ceelo didn't say "I am the biggest fan" instead? Sounds really odd to me. Life Matters

In terms of a true tribute being paid musically, Larry Graham was the only one who did that. It was very emotional, but WAY too short a set.
CeeLo Green...well, the amount of backing tracks were a joke. At one point I heard a sax, but the sax wasn't anywhere near the sax player's lips. His set just dragged on and on.
I didn't necessarily expect the Time to do anything other than what they did - and they were superb.

Did ceelo really say that? At a Prince tribute show.

If it's true it's quite shocking. Would be interesting to hear some feedback from other people who went on that night. Life Matters

Ceelo did say that, and he also followed saying "I'm not as bigger a fan as you" to the audience. But it was the tone, just so blasé, no real emotion.
When he said it people near me looked at each other like "what?" The crowd near me really weren't into his set of his music either.
There was a point in the projected intro to The Time where they had a really pixelated image of Prince on, and my heart sank.
I'm sure a lot of you had a great night, I just feel like it wasn't really a tribute or a reflection either. Larry & GCS did hit the right note for me. It just wasn't enough.

I'm certain Ceelo said "I'm the biggest fan" rather than "I'm not....". I mean he opened for Prince, they performed together and he was at the last shows in Atlanta so I think it's safe to say he is a fan. That being said, I agree his set wasn't great. I thought The Time were awesome. I expected them to be good but I really thought they were fantastic! And as for their set not being a fitting tribute to Prince, didn't Prince write 90% of their material so surely them playing their music is a tribute to Prince's music as well?
