That's one of Prince's favourite games: hide and seek.

Yes, Nimrod's birthday -

"Nimrod built the tower of Babel, the original Babylon, ancient Nineveh, and many other cities. He organized the world's first kingdom.

The name "Nimrod," in Hebrew is derived from "Marad," meaning "he rebelled."

From many ancient writings, considerable is learned of this man, who started the great organized worldly apostasy from God that has dominated this world until now.

Nimrod was so evil, it is said he married his own mother, whose name was Semiramis. After Nimrod's untimely death, his so-called mother-wife, Semiramis, propagated the evil doctrine of the survival of Nimrod as a spirit being.

She claimed a full-grown evergreen tree sprang overnight from a dead tree stump, which symbolized the springing forth unto new life of the dead Nimrod.

The 25th of December is Nimrod's birthday

On each anniversary of his birth, she claimed Nimrod would visit the evergreen tree and leave gifts upon it. December 25th was the birthday of Nimrod. This is the real origin of the Christmas tree."

Hmmm

I was just about to reply with who Nimrod was. It's not really an insult but the truth.

December 25 was designed as a day to celebrate by Constantine who tried to bring peace between Christians and Pagans. Jesus was probably not born on that date. It's mostly a Pagan holiday adopted and changed by many people over the years.

Today it's mostly about Black Friday sales and celebration of our reckless consumerism.

Notice Mel B didn't immediately question what he said. She looked taken aback but probably realized there was something deeper to the statement. I wish she had asked him to explain cuz I will admit I kinda enjoyed listening to what he has to say about everything. I may not believe it all but I like that it makes me think.
Surprise, surprise.
Another treat. Another trick.

He was searching for the truth (=one truth).

He probably found the truth in the Jehova's Witness. Probably he still continued searching. I do not think he would take for granted what another human told him as being true. Maybe only from a few close friends, like Larry He would check it and test it.

Nimrod is not an historical character, he's a construct (like King Arthur or Ragnar Lothbrok for example).

Only God knows that.

Even if he sat someone down and told them word for word what he believed, and then they told you, something would get lost in the translation. Also, a person's spritual journey is not stagnant. So something you once believed, you might not any longer. It's a moving target.

If you really are seeking this information, instead of asking a third party, seek the source. Prince has done many interviews where he speaks quite openly about his beliefs.

At 1:02:00 He tells a young person that following Jesus is much more important that following him. https://www.youtube.com/w...qyjwhFiQqg

At 1:50 He tell Tavis he believes in messages from angels. That God cured him of epilepsy

At 9:20 He believes in prophesy, the bible, and God

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nf7yRFk-ZfE

At any rate, you will have to do your research. Now that interviews are abundant, on youtube you should be able to find some of the answers you seek.

But I have a question for you? Why do you need to know so urgently?

He believed that Mountains was an average song from a great album.

He actually said that he didn't find Parade a great album and that apart from Kiss there was nothing on it that he was really proud of.

Yeah but, what he said and what he believed are two quite different things.

I don't believe it for a second. He played abotherloverholeinyohead at a press conference before the superbowl.
I'm sure he thought parade was OK.

Difficult to articulate why I need to know. It's kind of just an internal urge. I wanted to meet him and ask him myself - he seemed to know something important all his life that I don't and maybe few do. He was SO sure he found God - the right one - and that he knew exactly what that God wanted. I gotta know for sure that He's (the higher power/God) around. I've got a hunch based on things that happened to me, but I just don't know for sure.

I googled Nimrod's b-day and learned that Christmas is the traditional birthdays of Nimrod, Osiris, Jupiter, and various other representations of the child-god of the Babylonian religious system. Apparently Jehova Witnesses choose to celebrate Jesus's death & resurection rather than his 'supposed' birthday.

Prince was :

1) just joking -- or --

2) he was trying to lower the audience expectations, so they would be more "surprised" and "shocked" how excellent it actually is..

3) I believe Prince knew deep inside that Parade is the finest masterpiece. Maybe he just wanted to let the listener decide for themselves what to think about it, Parade the album....

I know he's a Jehovah's Witness and presumably he believes in the doctrine, but I can't help but feel like he put his own spin on it and believed in some extra things. He seems to merge the doctrine with a number of other beliefs in a number of songs. prince I was reading about "exit points" because they were mentioned in another thread here, and he seems to have held some version of this belief as evidencd by his rhetoric about the thing. Ex. "When I no longer wish to communicate on this level", "When I choose to leave...", etc... He seems to believe that the highest power is love and we are all in that oneness as evidenced by his lyrics and one of his essays. prince He seems to believe in "good karma" on some level or at least spiritual repercussions for what is or isn't done here. He also seems to believe in reincarnation on some level. Seems to really care about what goes on in the world. Seems to believe in energies/chakras/something. prince Is there anyway that I could find out what is exactly that he believed!?!?! prince Also, why does he refer to everything spiritual as something (spooky, the dance, ex..."electric"? I think you could start by following in Prince's footsteps. And, reading the Bible and finding a Christian friend to talk to about the wisdom and knowledge contained in the Good Book. It changed Prince's life, and I think it brought him much peace. Finding wisdom and understanding is a process and takes time. Many churches have Bible studies during the week, and you are very welcome to go. As you become familiar with the stories contained in the Bible, you will see that they build on eachother. Also interesting, is the book of Proverbs. It's written as advice from a father to a child. And, the earlier passages are geared to younger children and the book matures as you go through it. Also, there are some good youtube videos on the Bible. I like J. Vernon McGee. He's an old fashioned preacher - and long dead. But, he's so funny and he explains the Bible using the original Greek words. Their meaning is often lost in translation. He also puts things into Historial and cultural perspective and explains the Bible based on the custom of ancient times. I've gone through the proces of trying to learn the truth and find great peace in the wisome of the Bible and the one True God. I felt so much closer to Prince once I learned he was a Christian too!

With no will, I hope his heirs will choose to archive his notes and correspondence then seal it all for for future historians to peruse after everyone is gone.

His beliefs are interesting, but it's not like I need to know his detailed interpretation of the bible down to individual verses. His songs are full of religious references and imagery, he expresses his beliefs musically sometimes slyly, other times bluntly, but for the most part magnificently.

and he said in an at least one interview, he didn't like dogma. so like most of us, he probably made his own spirituality from different influences.
