I wonder if the majority of people buying his music NOW truly appreciated his music over the past several decades. Prince had so many amazing songs that were not #1 hits. So many gems on his albums that were never played on radio or released as singles. I’m sorry that it took him dying for people to buy his music and find out how brilliant he was.

Good point but they can catch up now. Also, there's nothing wrong with greatest hits and other compilations. Some people have a very varied taste and don't dive into everything very deeply. People who want to delve into P's catalogue a bit deeper can go for The Hits/The B-sides combo instead of the other 2 comps and use that 3 disc set as an excellent starting point.

I wonder if an all encompassing career retrospective double or triple album is possible, including his work after he left Warner I mean. I guess not. It's so scattered over various companies, then there's his own releases etc. I don't see it happening. It's really too bad the casual fan doesn't get the chance to hear a full career overview on one compilation. But then again, most of them probably wouldn't even realize they were missing out on something.

yeah, I honestly find it really depressing - the surge in popularity, the press coverage / displays in music shops etc are just a constant reminder he's gone.

Yes it makes me feel depressed too - I will be glad when the hype is over from the casual ones and we can kind of just have him back to ourselves (sounds selfish I know- but in grief it is hard to think outside of your emotions)

Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

But the thing is that everything that has jumped into the Top 10 are hits collections and his 2 biggest selling albums in print still "1999" and "Purple Rain" so there may be "new fans" in that mix i am sure or just the curious ones that maybe missed those days and are getting into those songs now, but lets not make it like the albums that were not selling much like "gold" or "Chaos" or "3121" albums that mainly were selling to the loyals but really did not have hit singles, those albums are not top 10, and I think even if they were still in print and in surplus they would be, they would chart, I mean right now he has I believe 10 or more in the top 200 still a month after his passing.
