Date of death

Hi I been coming to the org periodically forever to find out what up with prince.
Ever since his death it's kinda been my lifeline but I have a question about the date.they found him on the 21 but if it turns out he was deceased for a while will
They change the date to the 20th? Thank you

No, they won't. He was last seen alive around 8 p.m.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t matter how long he was actually deceased. His time of death is when the proper authorities pronounce him dead.

I have no personal experience with this, but I don't believe the above is correct. See the CDC manual on Death Registration for Coroners: http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/d.../hb_me.pdf

There are different entries for "Date Pronounced Dead" (item 24) and "Actual or Presumed Date of Death" (item 29).

The latter is based on the coroner's best estimate for when the death occured. The former is the time that first responders located the body and pronounced it dead. The two do not have to be the same date.

It would seem possible that the date of death could be the 20th or the 21st... until the autopsy is completed we won't know where their estimate falls.

i would think it's very possible that he died on the 20th but the coroners and so forth will be able to give us a window of how long he was gone.

if he passed any time after midnight, the date would remain the same. it would only change if he passed between drop off at 8 pm and midnight. and i don't know the legalities of whether that would change the official dod.

Kurt Cobain was found April 8th but was determined to have died April 5th. His death certificate states as much.

They will change it if it can be determined he died before midnight. If they're unsure I believe they would leave it as is.

if that is the case, then that will be two dates in april that will suck, cuz no matter what, april 21 is wrecked for me.
