Can you help identify these lyrics? Recorded or not?

Hello. Can anyone help identify these lyrics from a handwritten page? Were they ever recorded, in full or in part? Apparently from 1983, if that helps...

Come Then

Back then we was doing some o’ all that sauna (?) seeds on the beg, braggin’ bout who got the head (the night before).

Here come Holly wit a 20 sac eyes mo sad than Oscar Bonvena’s back after Ali got up off that ass. Suckas around the TV everytime Chaka crash it (tellin’ us something).

Oh yeah, oh yeah.

But never mind the fashion, I didn’t have the cash then

Broker than Flo when she left the Supremes I was

Only shopping we knew was outside…..

Slap me if I go back

I ain’t sleepin’ til I own my dreams.

Sounds more mid 90s than early 80s

I thought that, too. Not that I could put my finger on why I thought that, tbh.

The auction was 2002, so definitely before that. It started in the catalogue:

"A set of Prince's lyrics, circa 1983, on both sides of a piece of paper, part reading..."

I'm not one to pull out every death reference in Prince music, and try to make something out of it. (It's tiring to see people do that so much lately.) But this one line did stick out to me:

I ain’t sleepin’ 'til I own my dreams.

If those are Prince lyrics, they're quite fitting. Dreams being his songs, and sleep being an synonym for death. He finally owned his music before he died.

.

And no people, I don't think he "finally just gave up" or "knew he was going to die", or any of that. Prince's death is random, and shitty as fuck. I just like that line.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I would attach an image of that line, written in pencil, but don't seem able to do that here. It is written with squiggled 'eye'. Was an item in auction at Sotherby's London in 2002.

If you havethe direct link to the picture, just click the picture icon, under the Center icon, and paste the URL. Or just post the link where you see it online.

.

I sorta remember that auction or something, but I can't remember if I looked through anything.

according to Princevalt the song is called "Then"

Then is believed to be an unreleased song recorded in 1993 or early 1994; the song title was mentioned in a notebook carried with him when working on videos in Los Angeles, CA, USA, in mid-to-late March 1994 (along with Maybe, We Can (Get It On), Interactive, Endorphinmachine, Space, Now, Acknowledge Me and lyrics from Gold, Chaos And Disorder, Ripopgodazippa and Days Of Wild). seemed to have been thinking about a film project incorporating many of the songs, with notes outlining the settings for some songs.

The lyrics for Then begin, "Back then we was doin' all that 'juana and seed on the bed, braggin' about who got the head." Nothing else is known about the track, which remains unreleased, if indeed it was ever recorded

Thanks! That's really helpful. Maybe a shame it wasn't released (as far as we know) but I'm happy to own the handwritten 'lyrics'/notes. Thanks again for the information.

Here's an image mirror:

Looks like on the top of the second page he might be talking about a sample used in the song?

I have the original if anyone would like a close up - some of the lines are quite hard to see.
