Prince's website developers: Prince "was on Prince.org all the time" In case this hasn't been posted: Interesting transcript of a chat Anil Dash did with the developers of several of Prince's website -- including the comment from the developer of Lotusflow3r.com that Prince "was on Prince.org all the time." https://talkshow.im/show/...EkSWyZkPeg [Edited 5/17/16 13:56pm] [Edited 5/17/16 13:58pm]

He was on here all the time! "We just let people talk & say whatever they want 2 say. 9 times out of 10, trust me, what's out there now, I wouldn't give nary one of these folks the time of day. That's why I don't say anything back, because there's so much that's wrong" - P, Dec '15

I always thought that was obvious.

Damn all the bitchy things I've said are going to haunt me now, given that there's a possibility he might have read them (I'm normally fairly positive here but I've ragged on a fair portion of his work and decisions like a lot of us did.) Heavenly wine and roses seems to whisper to me when you smile...

Who is Anil Dash? " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Anil Dash is a fairly high-profile tech entrepreneur who is also Prince superfan
He's posted a few times on the org too! Look like he joined here around '02.

Thanks for the info. I´ve seen his name in some Prince related tweets here and there but had no idea who he is. What´s his org name? " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Probably AnilDash or Dash or Anil. Anil is a one smart guy, and incredibly nice. I've talked to him over the years, for a good decade. I forget if he was on A.M.P. or not, but maybe. . He just recently posted a great article about having to turn down an invite to Prince's house in L.A. He thought he'd never get the chance again, as he had already had a trip to India planned with his family. Yet just as he gets back, and still jet lagged to all hell, he gets another call to some visit. So he landed in NY, was there a day or two at most, and hopped back on a plane to CA. . He's a solid dude, with a great family, and a brain you'd like to pick on Prince or otherwise. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

If you were expressing your true feelings, I don't think he was offended. Some people like constructive criticism, and don't like those that they feel are just kissing up to them or buttering them up, just because of who they are. They like to be treated like the real people they are. I know I spoke up when I didn't like something, and I have no remorse at all, because I was expressing my true feelings. I knew that I loved Prince, and that he was my favorite entertainer, but there were times when I didn't like some things that he did, and I said so. I'm sure that he appreciated and wanted all feedback, those good and those we thought of as not so good. [Edited 5/17/16 14:16pm]

. Sounds like a waste of your time. The fact is that Prince often said he never viewed himself through other people's eyes. He was certainly used to people critiquing him and his music. You put yourself in the public, you will have it coming, deserved or not. He knew that, and lived with it for almost 40 years. . Endless associates, like his girlfriend, Tyka, and others have all said he loved his fans very, very much and felt it every day. The good always outweighs the bad in the end. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I still say Walk In Sand would have been perfect for a maxipad commercial. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Aww...so we lost the #1 orger...that makes me sad.

Would be great to know if he ever posted anonymously and what his user name was. Can we ask this web designer guy?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
That would be interesting.

I'm not fully sure on that either. I recognise his name from something that went on between him and Gamergate where he claimed one of the 'leaders' (its a hashtag there were no leaders lmfao) doxxed him and it left a bad taste in my mouth. Nice interview though, although I cringed hard at the 'safe space' thing he mentioned. I honestly wasn't sure if he was serious or joking.

Same here. I was always being honest but I hope i never deeply upset him at all. Ever!

For those of you who have been on the Org when P was reportedly on here all the time ... as well as those who were part of the PP AOL chatroom (I read he supposedly chatted on AOL there under the handle Opnmind) ... anyone keep any copies of his comments ... or find any old .org threads where he made comments? I'm sure that would've been kinda stalker-ish to screenshot his comments, but since he's no longer with us in this life ... certainly would be interesting to read back. That live chat is really very interesting. As someone who works in tech/web, what has always been apparent is that Prince's thinking around the internet and new delivery/interaction platforms has always been so forward looking that even the best tech couldn't keep up with it, let alone deliver the results he wanted. People may scoff at the Flash overkill of lotusflower.com but beneath it was a really sound idea about experience, immediacy and satisfaction; what most of us geeks refer to as UX these days. I'd love to have created an app or a site for him, but like the guys on the chat, his genius would have surpassed not only my abilities but those of tech more widely.
It's an often overlooked area when we talk of Prince as a visionary, but something that really resonates for me for obvious reasons.
Genius is the only word to describe him.
PS "the internet is over" makes perfect sense with reference to streaming royalites.

Maybe just maybe Prince is here now. It makes me smile to think he is seeing all the support and love for him. He appeared to be a humble guy. I'm sure he would just say thank you.

I remember bring on his website chatting about what "3121" meant. He came in and yelled at me about bread and butter. Then left. I remember the screen name had a 7 in it. Never saw him again. He watched us from a distance. "I don't make the rules. I just play"
