LOVESEXY LA Sports Arena 88 or 89(it's been so long): a spectacular show. From the second P got out of the T-Bird and I saw Minneapolis printed on the arm of his violet jacket I knew I was in for a treat...I remember my sister won tickets for the first night off the radio and the second night I went wit my homie...I remember he played I WISH U HEAVEN which isn't on the video concert for that show...that was the shiznit....Oh I forgot to mention what I wore, sweatshirt, pants, socks, drawls, and kicks.....oh and some of the ladies wuz decked out in lingerie and trenchcoats....

it was the 1999 tour (Prince/The time/Vanity6). I was 12 or 13 and I dressed like members of The Time...bagging pants that I made in my clothing class and my fathers jacket...I was too cute.

Was memorable for the 20 year wait!!!

I wore black pants, white and black top

and leather jacket.

I was in awe the whole time!

I wish I could have experienced him much earlier

but he was worth the wait!
He calls me "Holi" cuz he says everyday w/ me is like a Holiday...

purple rain ... november ... philadelphia ... 85!!??

had to settle for the gawd awful seats - behind the stage ... which of course prompted my "not-so-Prince friendly friends" to bitch the whole time ... something about having to see his "ass" the whole time ...

I was a Prince fan from the get go but, I could not afford to go to concerts until Purple Rain hit. The best concert however was the After Show at the Fillmore. Second place would have to be the ONA Tour. Third would be the Lovesexy tour in Oakland, Ca @ the Coliseum and in fourth place would be Hit N Run @ San Jose State Event Center.
All this reminiscing is makin me jones 4 another tour...

UnderDog theme,
Oh where, oh where can our Fearless Prince be?
Oh where, oh where can he be?

I can never get enough Prince music!

Sept. 18, 1988 Lovesexy show at the arena formerly known as the Rosemont Horizon in Chicago. I went with my aunt, uncle, and best friend and it was a lot of fun 2 say the least.

First experience was the Act 1 tour in SF. It was my first major concert too! I still remember those cut out pieces of cloth all over the floor. I'll never forget that night but there were other concerts that topped that one: Watching him play Joy In Repetition at The Fillmore, seeing him lay on his back on the side speaker doing the guitar solo for I Can Never Take... at Ruby Skye, being in awe like everyone else when we were allowed to go backstage at the Oakland Hit and Run show...So many memories and it all started with that Act 1 concert. smile Yeah, the addiction started there!

Crapola. Nude Tour, London, summer 1990. I wanted something to rival SOTT and Lovesexy concerts. Although I must add that Prince didn't owe these to me!

The first 20 minutes were actually brilliant. I remember one reviewer saying the first 20 minutes were the greatest 20 minutes of a concert he's ever seen.

But it just got slowed down and a bit boring after that, so I felt let down. Still, it was great to see Prince live for the first time.

Jam of the year in San Antonio...
pretty much rocked. paid 180 to be second row center, and it was worth every damn cent.
best moment was during face down. he accidently started off with the second verse. he got an "oops" look on his face. i laughed my ass off, and he shot me a smile.

Purple Rain tour at The Fabulous Forum in L.A. 1985. I wore embarrassment:black parachute pants with a purple bandana tied around my left leg, black smurf boots and a black trench lol. Gawd. I thought you were supposed to dress crazy. The place was crazy--purple floodlights outside the arena, everyone excited and dressed to the nines. One thing..Ive been to many concerts and I must say that (at least at that time) Prince had the most beautiful females attenmding his concerts. And the way they dressed, hot damn. We were happy just to kick it in the lobby for a few. Had terrible seats in back of the stage and my friends frist reaction to the band was "damn Lisa got fat" since we had view of her caboose and she was kind of hefty. We came a little late in Sheila E's set and tripped at what we saw though. Prince ended up doing an encore of America with the lights on playing geetar on his back..he was dressed like King Vitamin or Burger King lol. Later we met Dr. Fink who was talking to people witha drink in hand after the concert at the Forum Bar entrance while his ride was just there. He's been around a forever but nothing will ever be like the "event status" as Purle Rain was.

My first was Lovesexy '88
I was 16 & went with my friend
who had seen Prince first in '80 with
his big brother when he was 10.
The Lovesexy show totally blew us
away. We had tix for this one and two
more the next month, so after getting
our asses kicked at this one, we knew
that we were in for TWO more!!! woot!
I wore my black jeans that I had painted
the Lovesexy logo on one leg & the
NewPowerSoul logo on the other & sewed
buttons on the sides biggrin

the first time i seen 'im wuz at the very first paisley party i went 2...march 16, 2001 (may as well be the 17th, cuz ol' boy didn't play till the wee hours of the mawnin, like always lol)...it wuz 4 the npgmc launch party (i still got the t-shirt they gave me at the front door!)

anyways, my first live glimpse of the brotha is when me, my friend nicole (MiscBaby from the .org) and a friend of hers were standin and talkin in the soundstage, waitin 4 sumfin 2 happen. the big-ass projector wuz on, and u could see what wuz goin on in the adjacent room (aka "the l4oa room"), cuz there wuz a camera hooked up. about 10 or so minutes of us bein there, we were talkin about sumfin, and all the sudden misc's friend goes, "there he is!" and i'm like, "there who is?" lol she wuz like, "it's prince, he's here, c'mon!!" i looked up at the screen and i seen 'im...all i remember thinkin wuz, "oh, wow!!" omfg i wasn't panicky or droolin or anything like that, ya'll...it wuz just like..."wow!" biggrin

we all ran 2 the other room--misc told me, "it's gonna be your first paisley report (btw, my report from that nite's archived somewhere, i posted it once biggrin), go up towards the front, gyrl!!!" so i went about 2 or 3 rows in 2 the front near the stage...i woulda been even closer, but these two tall, skinny heffas wouldn't budge when i politely asked "excuse me!" cuz i couldn't see anything. they gave me like the snootiest looks in the world...i'ma never forget that shit (that, and how much i wanted 2 bust 'em in their damn grills evillol).

i don't remember what the brotha played at all that nite (damn my memory lol), but dont'cha know i remember how he looked--he wore the same red outfit he wore in the "u make my sun shine" video, and he still had long hair...

(moment of silence 4 the hair) redface

and he did the splits that nite!!! 'twas the first (and possibly last sad) time i'ma ever see him do the splits live...that shit wuz tight!!! woot!

...and there's my long, drawn-out testimonial. u may commence 2 sharin your experience. wink

p.s. i forgot what clothes i wuz wearin that nite, but i do remember that i wore high-heeled boots. i can't forget that shit, cuz my feet hurt like hell the next day lol

Jam of the Year Sept 1997 Calgary, CDA
I wore low-rise blue pants and a striped tank
Went with my best friend.
I remember holding my friends hand so tight she was in pain. I was so excited all day I could barely eat. I paced the arena during GCS performance...little did I know the number of times I would hear 'Everyday People' in my future. When P came out I thought I'd be sick. I think the people seated next to us wanted their $ back. Lawd knows I wouldn't have wanted to be sitting next to me.
P was amazing. I was so focused on him I can hardly remember what tunes he played. I remember freaking out when he asked 'who wants to take me home tonite?' Again, my neighbour must have been pleased. I think I even spilt his beer with my moves booty! At the end of the show, streamers, gold confetti and such flew from the sky. I collected some and still have it in a little box. The afterparty was at Cowboys, and I was only there for a bit becasue I had a 6 hr drive ahead of me that night. Not bad 4 a first time, but my other experiences have been equally exciting and everlasting.

February 1985, Nassau Coliseum...PURPLE RAIN. I wore black leather pants, white shirt and a red bomber jacket. I was in the nose bleed seats so I moved to be behind the stage. I couldn't really see him but I remember dancing my ass off to Delirious. His best NY concert was Radio City Music Hall in 1993. All the critics love HIM in NY.nod

March 30, 1985
Purple Rain tour.
What was I wearin'? hmm...don't laugh...I was wearin' black fishnet stockings, a black mini skirt, a black lacey top(where you could sorta see my bra redface), and a black leather jacket. I had black fingerless gloves and a million bracelets on each arm.And my hair was very curly and tied up in a pony tail. And of course I had on nothing but purple make up. I swear I was wearin' so much black, you coulda sworn I goin' to a funeral. And to those who are wondering, yes, I was one of those girls that copied Madonna, refered to as a "wannabe" back in the day. I remember what I was wearin' so clearly because I 'm lookin' at a picture that was taken before I left to go to the show.
And you what? I looked pretty good.
I think I screamed the most when they did "darling nikki". I swear "purple rain" was like an hour. My favorite part of the show was "irresistable bitch".
I had a great time!!!

My first witness of Prince in concert was back in 197? I forgot the year but Prince was headlineing at a club in New Jersey called the "Emeral City"(formerly called the "Latin Casino"). Nona Hendrix had opened the show(in whom I had come to see), needless to say I was trilled by her performance and was satisfied to the point where I was ready to leave the show and go home. I had no intentions of seeing Prince for I had little knowledge of Prince other than what I had heard on the radio from his first album[so-so]. My band member convinced me to stay to at lease check out a couple of songs. I agreed and said ok. All I can say is that after the first minute I was done. I was robbed. I couldn't believe what I had just witnessed. Here was this little guy(whom at the time I assumed was a "faggot" excuse my choice of discriptions to discribe my attitude at the time) throwing down like no one I had seen in years. MUCH ATTITUDE in his stage presence. I was floored! This was not what I had listened to on the radio. This BAD "MF" was throwing down like the way I only dreamed of. That was the beginning of my support of Prince. While I did not agree with way Prince used "gimmics" (as Hendrix would put it),I certainly would agree that it has been effective. Mad props to the brother!
