Prince O(+> symbol - origins THE FASCINATING ORIGIN STORY OF PRINCE’S ICONIC SYMBOL http://www.wired.com/2016...one-night/ "Prince was the Nike swoosh before Nike was" http://www.dezeen.com/201...ch-monson/ American musician Prince has died suddenly aged 57. By changing his name to a graphic symbol for a period, the artist elevated himself to icon status that would last a lifetime, according to the logo's designer. Graphic designer Mitch Monson created the unpronounceable symbol that Prince used for seven years instead of a name, transforming him into an "icon in the industry".

Let's be real. The symbol has existed since at least 1982. Slapping a horn on it didn't reinvent the wheel.

Prince used the basic O+> since 82 (it was on the 1999 cover) and even some time before that I belive). is a variation of that. And they talk about that in the story. However the lower part of the is a symbol for soapstone
