The last albums Prince purchased

Sorry if this topic has already been mentioned, here are the last six albums bought by Prince at the Electric Fetus, in support of Record Store Day (on the Saturday before he passed away)

1) Stevie Wonder,
"Talking Book"

2) Chambers Brothers, "The Time Has Come"

3) Joni Mitchell, "Hejira" (I believe this means "Flight from danger" in Arabic)

4) Swan Silvertones, "Inspirational Gospel Classics"

5) Missing Persons, "The Best Of Missing Persons"

6) Santana, "Santana IV"

I find that quite interesting.

I found that interesting, too. And it made me wonder (again) if he had a vinyl/cd collection. I always go for the music shelf when i enter someone's home, and then their bookshelf (if they have neither, we have problems...). It'd be fascinating to know what other albums he had - and even what was the last cd he played

I was mostly intrigued by the set of titles, but like you I did also wonder why he would buy these as he would presumably have had them already. Maybe he simply picked his all time favs, just to support the wrecka stow day, or perhaps thought of giving them as gifts... guess we'll never know. confused

Hopefully they put a list out of what was in his record collection. I wonder if Electric Fetus kept track. He also used to frequent Tower on Sunset.

i wondered that, too. maybe for gifts, maybe to have copies in the car/in the house. plus stuff happens, juice gets spilled, people step on stuff, they wear out, etc.

interesting list, though, in any case.

I would love that, along with an entire inventory of everthing music related inside PP.

Funny cause simultaneously with my Prince career marathon, I've been also on a Stevie Wonder kick. He in many ways is the only other guy out there that rivals Prince.

They really need to put out a set like "At The Close of the Century" for Prince.

Santana's newest album with the original members and Ronald Isley on two songs. It gets a lot of play on my Ipod.

He probably bought those CD's for himself. Not surprised by the picks because I've heard all of those artists in his music. Great choices..(especially "Hejira" and "Talking Book").

I would find it hard to believe he didn't own those albums years if not decades ago.

I bought Hejira quite recently but that was due to a Joni piece in Mojo magazine.

Oh yeah...I'm sure he was jamming on those LP's back in the day. There's a live version of Stevie and P jamming on "Maybe Your Baby" from "Talking Book". One of his band members (I forget which one..Lisa?) said that he would listen to records by Devo, Missing Persons and Gary Numan on one of the earlier tours...Plus he worked with Dale Bozzio too.

"Hejira" is fantastic. I still have the cassette (somewhere) but I need to go to my local "wrecka stow" and get it on CD.

Good catch. Miles "You're Under Arrest" is in the background too (in the film).
