I think it's cool "The Game" spent $65K to honor Prince, but to me it doesn't look quite right ... especially the purple face, not something I'd want as it does remind me of the obvious.

This is one big ass pop painting, it's imposing and it has its charms. But it's not what I would pay $80000for.

It's the thought that counts. I think it's nice that he decided to pay homage in his home, like that.

Why was it so dear? It's nice he wanted a Prince tribute but it looks wrong.

other than the eyes, lips, teeth, ears, neck noes, and hair.... it looks just like him!

The actual technicalities of the picture seem good, but aesthetically it looks really garish.

Honestly maybe it's just me but I'm kinda sick of the rehash artwork people are making of pre-existing photos of him. Idk, maybe it's because I'm an illustrator and make my images from scratch rather than going off pre-existing imagery, but damn I wish people would make an effort rather than just redrawing/painting/collaging/whateverthefuckyoucanthinkof the hits/b-sides album art or a pic of him during the PR days. And I don't direct that at fans who are doing it casually either- that's totally okay. But I've seen professional after professional after professional doing this.

OMG I FEEL THE SAME WAY TOO.

Honestly though, it can be good once in a while (depending on the art style) but most of the time it just feel so unoriginal and boring like yeah i've seen different variations of the same picture like x1415615116156 times now. give me sumthin' new pls instead of a existing one. and this is coming from a person who likes to draw shit from scratch too lol
