Nothing Ever Fresh From The Oven Again

I know that Prince has a lot of music that we haven't heard but its just not the same as having something totally fresh from him.

Everything now will be dated even if someone like Jimmy Jam updates it, or ad lib to it, still won't be the same.

I mean, how many songs has been rearranged/recomposed musically/re-sung vocally/ or added additional vocals at the last minute/hour that totally made the song truly special and unique.

Think of all the sounds/songs/ideas still in his head that we will never hear.

This is a really sad thought, but totally accurate. We will also never hear the live interpretations of the music released in the future either. Often times the live version was far superior to the recorded versions of his songs especially in the latter years.

As a new music Prince junkie for 35 years...I could not agree more. #devastaded

The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

yeahthat An artist like Prince would've kept recording as long as he could. As recent as his last album, he released one of my all-time favorite ballots in "Revelation." Who knows what might've been had he live. I hate to speculate.

To me, all future vault releases will be as good as fresh from the oven. It's the next best thing, considering the man is dead (there, I said it) and therefore can't produce new songs.

Reality is a bitch, but he didn't leave us without prospect of new material. We will be so happy again in a couple of years...

he said he had completely finished albums stored away in the vault so there should

be a few things coming in the future that are 100% his vision and execution still.

but yeah, i know what you mean, no more new-new-NEW prince stuff, like getting a
song he recorded the weekend before or something like that on tidal or somewhere sad

and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Total bullshit!

I hate it. No more concerts...no more tv performances.

Hell. We don't even know at this point, whether any music will be coming from him or when.

It might be a year or two before we hear anything.

His well would have never run dry nor his need to create each day, my guess is we would have had another 30 very interesting years from him. His best music could have very well still been ahead of him. It makes me very sad, his musical mission cut very short.

While all of that is true and indeed sad, it's also focusing on the negative. I think for all of us Prince fans to truly begin healing, we have to focus on the positive and take inventory of everything that Prince DID give us: The music, The Live Performances, The Videos, The Films (yes films!!), and not least of all, the Prince community! grouphug

Grieving is absolutely important. Then the healing can begin. But there's no room for wallowing! no no no!

Taking inventory... I like that. I actually thought something similar yesterday. For the first time, I was able to open my personal Prince Vault and start going through some stuff. It hit me just how much we've been left with. And how lucky we are compared to a fan of someone like George Michael, whom I also like, but doesn't have much out there.

On the other hand, yes, also so very sad that there won't be anything truly "new" ever again. Loved watching his progression. And the thought that it is over breaks a part of me.

I am pretty sure the last project he was working on was with Kirk, Mono Neon, and Adrian, and possibly Donna. You're right though, we probably won't get to hear any of it for a long time, if ever.

Revelation is a beautiful song. My favorite from the past two decades. Have you heard the live version from April 2015 at Paisley Park? The track was played over Paisley Park sound system and Prince and the band joined in live with instrumentation. A must listen if you love the song. Wonderful guitar solos.

Not really, dude. You would never know if it was new unless he told you. I would be willing to bet most of the stuff you would guess would be WAY off the mark on what time period you would guess. Unless you heard someone like Eric Leeds or Sheila, an old Roland/Korg vintage synth, maybe I'd give that to you.I've heard shit like this before and it sounds like you are projecting a bit of material you haven't heard or quite frankly no one has heard. It will be dated to you but to others it won't. You are not the gatekeeper of what is dated music, I hate to break that to you.

i give zero s***s about the order of his songs being released so I will be so happy if and when we get Vault releases - what we will miss out on is any further evolution of his music

Yes, but we got to experience the journey.

I had hoped he had a new "hits" collection just because the casual fans are just getting part of the story.

I think of paisley park and imagine his guitar in it's rack.. his piano standing there... nothing but the hum of electricity. Never to be picked up again. Breaks my heart.
