Are we proud of all the help, support & opportunities he gave younger artists?

With so many coming out & speaking I am truly busrsting with pride at the support he gave over the latter part of his career. He gave advice to so many artists, he gave opportunities to fans to work with him, he gave to various youth charities [we code amongst others] & allowed several musicians to work with him. Whilst some hard core look at say 3EG/Josh as not worthy/too green I now look at them as the bigger picture i.e. passing on his wisdom & success to help develop others like them.

Therein lies the evidence..using his expereince & wisdom to pass on to a younger generation in all aspects of the creative field & also the local community.

What a loss to so many.

This has long been one of my favorite things about Prince. Throughout his career, he was always bringing people up - not many in the industry really do that. He sought out talent and pushed people forward - it's a very special quality.

Most definitely! He's helped out so many artists, not just with full albums or a few songs, but also by giving them advice. Apparently he talked to the artists who opened for him on tour abroad. I remember an interview with Belgian artist Selah Sue about the career advice he gave her. Btw gonna check out Delilah's debut album (recorded before they collaborated) later this week, just ordered it online. It's comforting to know there are still so many artists out there whom he collaborated with. He won't just live on in his own music, but also in those artists' output.

true..it's when you sit back & listen to all the people coming out now that it truly hits home as to how many he helped. 3rd eye girl project IMHO was a huge act of generosity & faith in Josh & the girls.

Likewise look at RedFoxBandit beinga llowed to do the artwork, JesterEye being given a job etc...note that he was also very generous with how he looked after them & paid them too.

Delilah has an amazing voice. I hope she comes out with a new album soon. As I mentioned in the thread about Ana Moura, I'm sure Prince probably has unreleased stuff with her as well (beyond what she contributed to AOA). You don't spend 2 years around someone without recording at least a few things. I'm going to find Selah Sue's music on Youtube. I remember that interview but I never checked her out.

Change it one more time..

Very cool of him...I dug the 3RD EYE GIRL project. I was already familiar with Mono Neon, but it would have been great to hear them collab on a full CD.

I was joking this year so much about how P had "pretty girl singer" radar. I would read an article about a new artist and think, "man, she's beautiful" only to see her mention Prince or have Prince tweet/hype them up somehow. He mentored so may people frankly I don't see how he had the time. I always wanted him to give me some advice/validate my music. His was the only opinion I cared about to be honest. As a musician I know I shouldn't care or seek that, but I always hoped I'd get it nonetheless. confused

He was pretty special in sharing the knowledge and help and not selfishily keeping it all to himself. He was generous in so many ways. I cry for him everyday still - not just becuase of the music but because we lost a wondeful human being who was selfless in many ways in such a selfish world.

Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜
