Recent song questions (from 2000-01 up)

Hi. I have some questions.

1) I recently heard a great live version of ‘Empty room’. I think it’s only been recorded recently. (End of 2002, maybe)

Does anyone else know about this track.
Was it an official NPGMC download or something, or is it a bootleg?
When was it recorded?

I want to know because I think it’s a great song.

2) Did Prince ever release a version of Vavoom (a download etc) Because I have 3 versions on CD and there all recorded off the Tony fly show (And the sound isn‘t any good on them either). I want to know if there’s an original version available because I want to burn myself a high album.

Can anyone suggest particular version of songs for my high album. I have no NPGMC downloads from the first year but I have nearly all the tracks from the cd singles and other Cds.

I heard rumours of extended versions being available threw the clubs. Does anyone know which songs had longer versions made (If this is true)

Thanks. The help would be appreciated.

It's difficult to be precise because we can't hear exactly what you have. However, some NPGMC 2002 members received an email with a link to a download of 'Empty Room'. I believe it was a soundcheck or rehearsal recording from the 2002 tour - someone else should be able to advise the precise date. Other bootleg recordings of the song from the tour

do exist

Vavoom was released as an MP3 download as part of the first year of NPGMC, edition #10, on November 15, 2001.
Your question re extended versions
I'm not exactly sure what you are asking here. The songs which were to have appeared on 'High' but featured on CD singles appear on those singles in full versions. Sometimes the NPG Ahdio shows previewed some tracks (but not in their full length) which were later available as downloads in their full version. As regards extended versions, the NPGMC download of 'Golden Parachute' was descibed as 'Long Version'.

(From the same year of release, although not 'High' tracks, some tracks which featured on the Rave In2 the Joy Fantastic album first made available to NPGMC Year 1 members are remixed and / or extended versions of trackcs on Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic.

Additionally, the non-High NPG release 'Peace' was released in its full version on CD single as well as being an NPGMC download).

Empty Room was originally written / recorded back in 1985 with The Revolution, It was later revisited for possible inclusion in the I'll Do Anything soundtrack in 1992. And then it was re-recorded yet again around 1993 during the Gold Experience era. None of the studio versions have ever been officially released, but both of the 90's versions are widely available on bootlegs (I've never heard the 1985 version). Supposedly it was considered for inclusion on the Roadhouse Garden project, but I guess we'll never know for sure.

PS Thanks again. I've checked the running times on a site. This is the one. If anyone can put any light on a date I'd be grateful. Thank you

Like someone else mentions, the Empty Room version for NPGMC members was from the 25th Oct 02 Copenhagen Soundcheck.
As far as I'm aware, there are 2 Empty Room versions. One is from 'I'll Do Anything' project from 93, and is a piano ballad. The other is Empty Room 95, and is WAY better (IMHO), and has WAY more guitar!! headbang

According to Record Collector, Prince sent a copy of 'High' album to Tony Fly, and he played 'Vavoom' a few times.Their version of the 'High' album is...
Vavoom
U Make My Sun Shine
My Medallion
When Will We Get Paid
Supercute
Underneath The Cream
Golden Parachute
The Daisy Chain
Gamillah
High
When Eye Lay My Hands On U

But I guess the track-listing is open for debate, seeing as it wasn't released.
