Horns on "Come" track ????

I always loved the song "Come" off the album also titled "Come". The beat and melody of the song is so dope. I was wondering who played the horns on this song ? Did Prince play them himself ? The horns in the song sound so so good, I'm sure for all you others that have heard the song, you would agree.

There's a great soprano sax solo (or is it a clarinet?) on "Come". I've always assumed it was Kathy, but maybe it was Brian?

^ Agreed - it's quite mesmerising and sounds, perhaps, as if it has some 'eastern' origin. I have always assumed it was a clarinet.

That has to be a clarinet during that solo. By the way, it's the best part of the song when the clarinet solo finishes and the song just erupts in emotions directly after. "YIIIEEEEEAAHHHHHH!!!!"

I believe this horn track was then recycled for MAD SEX on the New Power Soul album by the NPG, if I remember correctly.

Look for my thread on the song I posted recently. He commented there, specifically about some of the "sound effects". lol

No - similar arrangements, I guess, but not the same track.

Disagree. Prince himself, on L40A or whatever website he was using at the time, said so around the release of the album. Wish I could find it...

So you're telling me an Orger arranged the horn parts for "Billy Jack Bitch"? I better watch what I say, being in the presence of greatness.

I don't know what to tell you. Listen to both tracks back to back - they clearly aren't the same.

the horns on "Come" and "Mad Sex" have no relation to each other.

I clearly remember sitting at the piano in studio B pulling the piano line from "Mad Sex" and arranging it for the horns before tracking. This was around the same time we worked on Chaka and Larry G's albums.

The tenor solo was Brian, the clarinet solo was Kathy J.

"Mad Sex" is another tune that is so clever musically...never gets enough love on the Org. One of my faves.

Then I am having a brain-fart of EPIC proportions. Plus, I've been too lazy to actually dig the albums out and compare. There used to be a site that had archived pages of the old L4oA website. If anybody can post that, so I can review the old posts, I'd be grateful.

Mad Sex is fantastic. Come is even more fantastic. Mr. Moops, you've brought me many shit-eating grins throughout the years. Thanks!

Also, you arranged the horns for Billy Jack Bitch? Dear god. I can't even listen to that part in public because I'll start dancing and nobody needs to see me dance!
