I have been reading a lot about Prince as of late, and a lot of you here know so much about him. All of you here on this one site with such a great wealth of informtion. I see a lot of you talking about how private he was, and how he wouldn't like ll of his personal life poured out for everyone to see. My question is why can't we know, now that he is gone, he can no longer be hurt by words, he is imortal, free of this world. I love hearing about his musical tatlents but I would like to know more about the man, what he was like, what made him tick, beyond the music, if anyone has any stories or anything I would love to hear them. thank you <3

being a fan can only get you so close, you can read books, watch interviews, but Prince is still impossible to understand. I think he wanted it that way "I'm not your woman, I'm not your man, i am something that you'll never understand"-I would Die For You. His character was broad and complex enough that all you could get were pieces of who he was. Like looking at a mountain from different perspectives. He was very funny, very humble, very generous and selfish at the same time, introverted/extroverted. he was also very very intelligent and insightful, reading his interviews it's obvious he put a great deal of thought into many things related to his craft. I personally loved how he answered a question "have you ever fell trying a move?" his reply was "if you're learning you're gonna fall sometimes". Realist and humble, and sassy too. I just read a story where P was quoted as saying "tell the new guy that if he wear his daisy dukes to the job he's done" about a new paisley park employee. Just deep and funny and impossible to really decipher, and I've been following him closely for over thirty years. I will miss him.

one thing he said in the 85 RS interview, that he was obviously very serious about was that he didn't think it needed to be broadcast when you did good works. This was in reply to the question of why he didn't defend himself when he was attacked for the We Are The World debacle and say "i do my part".

You mean, "I'm not a woman..........I'm not a man". The thing I loved about Prince was you could not put him into a category. Not male, not female, not black, not white, not straight, not gay, etc. So when you listened to his music, you felt as if he was singing to you or about you, no matter what category you belonged to or didn't belong to.

What's sad is that he was just beginning to write his memoir and tell his story and his truths in his own words. Maybe we all, even his most die hard fans, could have gotten to know him better. Now, we are left with the versions of Prince that are going to be told and "friends" and associates.
