What I meant by painkillers is that because he couldn't feel the pain, he was able to move the way he did. I'm more than certain he was in pain but he couldn't feel it.

My Ex has a bad pill addiction. He had many different injuries due to various construction accidents , without pills in him...and I'm talking 4-6 percs which he chews up....Uggghhhh he can hardly walk, but give him his percs nd he will come patch up your leaky roof, build you a deck, whatever you need done .once the pills wear off if he doesn't have more he's done for the day ..
That's how people get hooked so easily, he calls them magic...

Painkillers help a lot with hip and back pain, so don't assume that because he was agile in his performances that he wasn't in pain without pain medication.

I've seen a video of him stepping out of a limo and you can see he's in pain but covers it up - I guess that only someone who has experienced that type of pain would recognise it, but he falters for a split second before continuing. Immediately I saw that clip, I knew he must be in great pain at times.

Sometimes you can do things that are extraordinary, that even surprise yourself at the time, but for a day or two later you're in agony. I can imagine that the adrenaline of live concerts plus the medication helped Prince to deal with life. I also know how easy it would be to become addicted to certain painkillers. I don't think it's fair to assume that because he didn't outwardly show signs of pain, he wasn't in pain. I personally think he was very good at covering it up, and very brave.

I have been a fan since 1982, and I must say I never, not once saw any indication of pain. I find this entire issue to be very perplexing. I suffer chronic pain and there is no way I can hide it. When I take pain medication, I can barely function. I would not be able to perform on stage while I was under the effect of the drugs, absolutely no way.

I think it must affect different people differently , because my ex cannot go to work without it..it's very sad .Also, I don't think it has the same affect when you take it sometimes as it does if you take it regularly .

I've got arthritis type pain so maybe have some experience here. Yesterday I did two front somersalts (and I'm 47). The pain I have is mainly a problem beacuse it's always there, and it wears you down, and in the end you need some relief from it, but it doesn't always stop you from doing stuff. Sometimes it's specific type things too, so maybe he just knew what he could get away with and didn't push it further. Maybe he had good periods and bad periods too.

Painkillers undoubtably helped him too (if the reports are true), I took two paracetamol before going to the gym, that's enough for me but it does look like he was taking stronger stuff.

Maybe your right, but most people I know who are in chronic pain get sleepy after they take a narcotic pain med. If not sleepy, really looped.

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I have known a few pillheads over the years, they cannot even remember thier own name most of the time, the pillheads (as you call them,) I knew coouldn't keep their lives straight from the day they started taking pills. I could always tell when they were under the influence. The only reason we think Prince was an addict is because of press speculation.

I thought during the first police press conference they said they found no drugs with Prince. Furthermore, they said that they would not be sharing any information with the public until the investigation was complete. The investigation is far from over from what I can tell. If the DEA is involved, I find it hard to believe that they talking to the press about an ongoing Investigation. Most of the drug stories are coming from media outlets like TMZ and the Daily Mail, then are picked up by other outlets. Just something to think about.

All I can say is that I have seen a clip where I could see he was in pain, briefly, as he was walking in from a car. I, too, am in pain most days but opiods make a huge difference to my life. I can briefly forget the pain and live a normal life most days. If I scale back on the meds and do the same then I will be in agony for a day or a week until I get on top of the pain again. I can quite happily party, dance and enjoy life so long as I'm taking the tablets. I can believe that Prince could be the same way but I'm not saying that would happen for everyone.
