A Princess Remembers Prince

A ROYAL REMEMBRANCE

from Vanity Fair
APRIL 27, 2016

“I was invited to have dinner after a show at five A.M. Prince opened the door of his suite wearing pink silk pajamas.”

It must have been in the mid-1980s when I met Prince’s manager Steve Fargnoli, who basically invited me to hang around and come to any show I wanted. Prince kept people at arm’s length and only spoke to the people he knew very well, but his father, John Nelson, and I got on like a house on fire. During a tour that led the band through Europe, I got to share some very private moments with Prince through John. The biggest treat for me was when I was invited to have dinner after a show at five A.M. Prince opened the door of his suite wearing pink silk pajamas. There were only the three of us, but Prince still did not talk very much. John and I had a ball, though, laughing and chatting away. Prince was pleased to see his dad have fun.

This woman is just crazy. In Germany she´s known for talking s**t about everything she doesn´t have a clue of. She onces said AIDS was an issue because "black folks" like to f**k so much. I believe they were introduced to eachother in the 80s, the rest smells like bs.

I have only read once about the origin of the first white cloud guitar, and it was an article that said a Princess gave it to him.

so it's true?

The accepted origin story for the cloud guitars is that they're modelled after a bass guitar design Prince really liked, as per:

The original bass appears in one of his early videos, but I can't remember which one. Maybe "Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad?".

Yep. Even the headstock looks the same.

Carl Thompson basses looked familiar too.
