Would you participate in a fundraising event to support one of the charities Prince supported ? I've been trying to process my own grief over the passing of Prince. Like all of you, I've been grabbing onto every piece of new information that comes out about the potential causes of his death as well hearing about all of the charities he supported anonymously. I've felt very strongly about trying to channel this sad energy into something positive. It's struck me that I'd like to participate in some sort of fundraiser in his name. Ideally it would be to benefit one of Princes chosen charities or towards an organization that helped people with whatever ultimately caused his passing. I'd love to hear your thoughts. | |

if any of u do, his charity was huge into supporting groups such as Urban Farming and community gardening projects that help feed others (while improving lives in urban impoverished areas), as well as innercity after school and music programs (and in rural areas too) so even kids without rich families could play music or learn useful skills. Also the Jazz Foundation of America, which helps support musicians such as people who have retired and have no health insurance. (Some of these people played with the greats, too.. but it's for everyone). Also programs for orphans, homeless teens, etc.

No. I admire Prince for doing what he did, but if I donate money to charity, I'll make my own decisions where it goes. | |

i would certainly consider it, if it was done in a way to honor prince's passion about that charity. also, i was wondering if anyone will start an awareness/advocacy campaign in his name once we find out what took him from us. if, for example, we find out it was due to chemical dependency/inadequate pain relief, a movement to make substantive changes could get much more attention if it was done in his memory. of course, bigpharma will fight it all the way if it turns out to be that. all the more reason we would need prince to make people understand. saving lives from the other side.....i could see it "do i have a friend tonight?" --prince at his last concert in atlanta  "If u love somebody, your life won't be in vain

I already do charity work, Red Cross, Animal Shelter and Greenpeace. Like Mandela, we should all do charitable acts on his birthday 6 June as an annual event. But if there was one one organised in my country, yes of course. . That's why I suggested the #purplemovement. People helping people out, regardless of organizations, etc. Just a simple Love4OneAnother. Giving to people, helping people out, that are in dire situations, or just need a little help. To me, that would be a better way to honor him, not just giving to charities he gave to in the past, but giving to our fellow men as we go along our daily lives where/when/how we can. | |

Yes, if I knew all the money would go to the charity - absolutly. I would be a nice way to honor him. Maybe a charity that has something with kids - inner city youth of MN or a kids music program. | |

Ideally I'm thinking about creating a 2-3 day bike ride as an event to raise money to donate to one of the charities he supported in Oakland. It would be a SF Bay Area based ride(where I live). One day hoping to do a similar fundraising ride that began or ended at Paisley Park. [Edited 5/9/16 11:03am] | |
