10 Little known facts about Prince that only his hardcore fans know


Prince has produced ten platinum albums and thirty Top 40 singles during his career. He has written several hundred songs and produces and records his own music for his own music label. But here are a few facts about him that many who are not die hard fans wouldn’t know!

1. Prince and Michael Jackson hated each other! It wasn’t personal, it was strictly because they were so competitive of each other and were always compared to each other in the press because they were the two biggest African American male singers of their time.

2. Prince can play 7 different instruments and taught himself how to play it including the guitar which he is famously known for. He also taught himself how to produce music. His first album, For You, was done completely alone.

3. Prince produced the group Vanity 6. He called them “6” because of the number of breast that all three women has.

4. He dated Carmen Electra but Carmen allegedly cheated on him with his bandmember Tony M. Prince fired Tony and dumped Carmen. The song Eye Hate U was written about Carmen.

5. In 1984, Prince accomplished something only the Beatles had one before him: He was topping charts simultaneously with an album, a film and a single (Purple Rain and “When Doves Cry,” respectively).

6. Prince played electric guitar on Madonna’s “Like A Prayer.” Most of the guitar track was not used on the album version but was on the remix and was used on her live events.

7. Prince was just blocks away from the site of John Lennon’s murder when it happened.

8. Prince dated Nona Gaye, daughter of Marvin Gaye but allegedly dumped her because of her cocaine habit.

9. Michael Jackson wrote the song, BAD to be a duet with Prince. Prince did not want to work with Michael so Michael did it as a solo song.

10. Prince and his wife had a child who they named, Boy Gregory, who, according to the Star Tribune, died a week after birth due to a rare skull defect.

I get so tired of the Prince vs. MJ thing. They met up more than once. They had a healthy business competition, but there was no reason they'd hate each other on a personal level. It's such schlock.

The baby wasn't named 'Boy Gregory' by Prince & Mayte. When the baby was born it went home with P&M and was looked after for a short while by nannies, twin sisters named Arlene and Erlene “Nanny” Mojica, who lived at Paisley Park. They also are rumoured to be the ones who leaked the information to the press that the baby died and they registered the death, with the mothers name as 'Mia Gregory'. Prince and Mayte never advertised the name of the child, insisting only the baby would Know it.
