Prince songs for other artists Songs writen for other artists - putting prince on the map with the not so familiar.....
Since his passing, Ive seen so many articles in major media, magazines and newspapers of late listing all the hits prince wrote for other artists - articles are written in a way that would indicate the public dont know prince wrote the songs. Based on that - i would like to see a 2xLP release 1LP containing hits by other artist, 2LP princes demo/version of the song. Maybe a logisitcal nightmare for all the record labels involved, but keen to hear what you guys think....

It'd be an interesting set to put together. It can't be much of a nightmare, considering the consolidation of power & ownership in the record industry. By the way, there is a compilation CD that came out 18 years ago or so, called Symbolism - Prince Songbook. There's a lot of songs he either provided people, or that people covered of his (which is really different than an offered song). Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

One of the songs that is rarely mentioned is the one he did together with EWF in 1993, called Superhero. It's a typical Prince track that was issued on EWF's album Millennium. It has Prince written all over it, except for the fact that EWF sang the lyrics. It's funny that he helped the band to put themselves back on the map, especially since EWF is one of his influences. Even better: he turned members of EWF down when Warner asked him if one of them would do the production of his self titled second album. [Edited 5/9/16 21:46pm] 'Liberate My Mind'

forgot about the symbolism CD - collecting dust somewhere in my CD collection. I wondered why either the family or Psycho-chicken-Sinaeds version of NC2U wasnt on the album? Below would be a great start - so it would have an accompanying disc of Prince's demos/recordings
And not that it was a hit but its a cracking track - i would include Javetta Stelle Open Book + Princey's version. love that track [Edited 5/9/16 22:23pm]
