Strive

Flawless. The tour grossed $88 million, and his net, after we paid for everything, was $44 million. When he got paid at the end of that tour, we handed him a check for what he made from those shows, and all he had to pay out of that was his taxes. It was the night before the last show, and he was so excited when we handed him that piece of paper, when he saw the number he jumped up and down. Then he sat down at a little electric piano in his dressing room and did a 20-minute Stevie Wonder rendition for Paul and I. He was so happy.

lol

That really made me miss him even more.

I'm sad that the W2A show was the last I saw him. I had my head up my rear during the time he was doing 3121 and Cochella. So sorry I missed that.
Surprise, surprise.
Another treat. Another trick.

I'm loving all of these insightful, work related articles.. The tech guys, the biz guys, the band, etc...

One thing that jumped out to me is that everything from Musicology to the Coachella performance was contract free. And the tour managers mentioned that in the past he'd been ripped of severly. That Prince didnt like the biz side of things and kind of tried to avoid it to some degree (hell that might explain the lack of a will). Im curious as to how he stayed on top of things (ticket sales, merch sales, the % of album sales, production costs, etc).... There were no lawyers or biz managers involved. just Prince and the tour managers. Clearly he trusted the tour managers a lot to be honest and apparently they were honest in the reporting, but I am curious if he had any system of balancing things to make sure he wasnt being ripped off, like if he reviewed the budgets and such. I almost feel l ike that would have been nearly impossible to stay on top of wiith all his other responsibilities..

.

Which kinds of makes sense that he wouldn't believe in having a will either. It's too bad. He could have done so much good after he passed. I don't think most people realize -- his estate will make more after his death -- than he did while he was alive. And it is going to go to people he barely spoke to.

.

If you're over 21, get a will. If you're essentially a billionaire -- get a will. Even Donald Trump surely has a will -- and he is an idiot.
