Do you want a Prince monument in your town too?

Is it just me, or do other people who saw Prince perform live in their home town - as I did here in Melbourne, Australia - want to see some public monument to him there? I wish our Arts Centre could have a statue of him - or of the love symbol - in bronze in the forecourt.

Am I nuts? Or have other people thought similar things, ie before I asked you?

He definitely deserves a sculptural hommage of some kind somewhere in the world, the obvious thing to do would be the symbol.

In Minneapolis, yes there should be a monument. Not anywhere else though.

No I don't, but I agree with people who are saying there should be something in Minneapolis. I like the idea of a bronze symbol. Statues are crap, it would lose it's sharpness over the years and get covered in bird shit. At laest a symbol covered in bird shit would still look cool.

Yes - MPLS put up a statue for "Mary Tyler Moore", they should do something amazing for Prince. Would be great to see something in Montreux too. Freddy Mercury statue faces the lake. Prince should be somewhere in front of a view of the "mountains".

There most definitely should be something very special honoring him in Minneapolis. I'm from Detroit, so pardon my shameless bias but I think there should also be a lovely prince here as well because from the very beginning we always gave Prince much love and he always gave us much love in return.

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

I'm from Detroit too, and disagree that there should be a prince monument here. We have quite a few local artists who are actually from here who don't have monuments.

Plus, Prince didn't even come here from 2004-2015 -- 11 years is a long stretch to avoid a city that he once called his "second home".

Thanks for the feedback. There's actually an Elvis monument, if you can believe that, in the Melbourne General Cemetery.

I look forward to the unveiling of the Minneapolis monument.

There's also an old joke that goes back to ancient Rome where someone asked some distinguished guy (who was still alive) why there wasn't any statue of him. He said I'd rather there was no statue and be asked why not, than to have a statue and be asked why.

No one will ever ask why there's a monument to Prince.

Minneapolis or Paisley Park definitely deserves a bronze statue or bust.
