Any contemporary reviews of her first album? Or interviews from back then? (I know this is 83-85 but still... ^^)

Jill should've been handed the baton for Vanity 6 imo. It could've been a good segue way into her solo debut, if handled correctly.

I say the same. I'll end up posting more of it later, but a lot of her 'outtakes' from this period as well as from her album, a lot of the songs have a type of 'yearning' to them, yearning for her lover, or secret lover or unrequited love.

There is no doubt Jill held a special place with P. He didn't give her the throwaway songs. Most would agree her first album is up there with The Family and The Time. .

I've said this before: Jill Jones would have been a superstar if her debut album had been released in late '84 or early'85.Prince should have had her album ready to go during that time,so that she could have taken advantage of the Purple Rain hype.Imagine in late 84,her first single is "Sugar Walls".....instant smash hit for her! And after Vanity and Apollonia, everyone would have said "Finally,Prince found a female protege who can actually sing".Her career would have started with a bang! [Edited 4/12/16 1:16am]

I love her. She has that IT factor that so many do not have. I wish Prince would make one last movie and put her and the Time in it - give Mayte a walk on role- would be amazing if he would do that.

I mean, Sheila E has those. I want Sheila E to be in the camp at the time... Are there other songs that could have been included?

FADE IN: PR Outake:Wednesday ... I Don't Know What I'd Do...
Wednesday (sometimes erroneously known as There's No Telling What I Might Do) is an unreleased track recorded on 24 October 1983 at Prince's Kiowa Trail Home Studio, Chanhassen, MN, USA (five days before Father's Song). It was intended to be sung by Jill Jones in the movie Purple Rain and was included as the fifth track on a 7 November 1983, configuration of Purple Rain . Although it is likely that the recording is a performance by Prince with Jill Jones, it is listed here as a Prince and the Revolution recording as this is most likely how it would have been credited upon release on the Purple Rain album. The track remains unreleased. -PrinceVault
