My understanding of the US law is that it's pretty hard to make a defamation action stick because of the "absence of malice" defence. With that said, I admire anyone prepared to fight for his good name.

I agree it's hurtful but p would have shrugged it off and forgiven her

Well, P might have, but that doesn't mean Eddie or Arsenio should. Arsenio (and Eddie) should teach her a lesson and drag her through the court system for a few months. See if they can't get her to think about drawing a line on that "crazy" routine.

I think it was necessary for Arsenio to do this...and I watched an interview form years back where he had her on his show when she just hit big, she was so wide eyed and delicate and stunningly beautiful.... and its so sad to see her in such a dark corner of her mind.

Its wrong what she did but she is/was such a troubled soul. I think Prince would urge us to forgive.

He still works. But suing does two things, its not simply to recoup any potential losses due to hurt reputation, it also demonstrates to the public --who before his lawsuit only heard her "tale"-- that he in fact isn't involved in any stupid dealings like that. yes she very nearly committed suicide last year. I don't think she should be pushed like THIS. There has to be another route to take.

Prince got drugs from a doctor. Doctors are bastards.

Regardless of someone's mental state they cannot throw around reckless accusations that could negatively impact someone else's life. She stated that she called the authorities, FFS. People need to stop pretending that she is harmless and excusing her actions that could possibly lead to an innocent person coming under law enforcement scrutiny.

It would be seen as suspicious if Arsenio didn't push back.
