Documentary question Does anyone know the name of the documentary that features Prince singing "Happy Birthday" to Cat? I have been told about it but I have never seen it.

I believe it was called 'Prince of Paisley Park' in either N. America or Europe, and had an alternate name on the other continent. [Edited 5/5/16 9:58am]

I think that footage comes from the so-called Magnoli files, a major source in various Prince tv documentaries e.g. Musical Portrait, Prince of Paisley Park, etc.

Prince of Paisley Park was the BBC omnibus doc, right? That's also the one that has the rehearsal clip of him doing The Ladder. I've been dying to see that thing in full.
Also, on the topic of Prince docs - the Slave Trade one was really good. I saw it the week he passed on this channel called AXS (i think thats the name of it) and I missed the rerun. It's almost 3 hours long but it goes into the whole warner bros/90s thing and how that situation coupled w/ Prince's views on the internet changed the music industry. This aired on TV or you watched it online? (Not asking WHERE you watched it, just asking if you saw it online - delete of course if no appropriate). "Where you are now is in a place that does not require time." - Rest In Power, PRINCE

I have it on a DVD called "The BBC Archives", which also contains another documentary that I believe Albert Magnoli put together, and the interview that Prince did where he wore the mask and spoke via Mayte circa Exodus/TGE. |

That's the one. I've never seen it, but I met a fellow Prince fan who raved about it.
Hope to see it someday. | |

Nice. I will have to look for that. Ive seen bits of the mask interview. That was the weird one. "Where you are now is in a place that does not require time." - Rest In Power, PRINCE

I don't think it was such a great documentary, pretty much all the usual stuff. I remember it as the Prince of Paisley Park. The clip of Prince singing happy birthday was an aftershow gig at Camden in London 1988, if I remember correctly. The other 'interview' with his face covered with a scarf, was filmed at Wembley Arena 1995, when he did 3 nights there i think, the gold experience. It aired on a British tv program called the 11 oclock show, pretty sure it was live, and the coolest thing about it was they performed a cool version of Billy Jack Bitch, live as well.
