A further clear out of Prince material on Spotify? Obvs we all know that Prince took his catalog off Spotify ages back.. and then released Stare to Spotify!!
There were a very few Prince tracks still on there though - A Case of U from the Joni covers album, Song of the Heart from Happy Feet & Good Love from the Bright Lights Big City album.
A Case of U has been top of the UK Spotify Viral chart for a few days.. and now I can't see it or the other tracks any where at all.
It seems that whoever is now 'in charge' is following Prince's wishes re: Spotify to the letter.. | |

my prince spotify playlist has been reduced from about 2 1/2 hours to 40 mins. most of the sheila e/prince collaborative stuff has gone for example. that's a shame - though still a few things up there including stare.. . even MC hammer tracks which sample prince have gone! . Spotify have also removed Love Song (duet with Madonna) as well even though it's listed as a Madonna song |

I know this was his way of working.. doesn't mean I agree with it though.
With streaming being such a mainstream way for the youngsters to listen to music these days it makes me sad to think that he is effectively writing himself out of the history books by doing this.
Got to admire his principles though I suppose, and that's partly why I'm a fan..
Maybe someone in control in the future will change things although there is presumably no small matter of a legally binding contract with Tidal

Spotify is stripping out more and more of Prince's tracks every day. I suspect it is some kind of copyright issue.
Spotify seems to be allowing "bootleggers" however, of Prince's songs. This was a topic that would make Prince angry if you got him started on it. (seen on TV interview)
Spotify is nice when you don't have any money, however - like, for example, when you are a student. I know - I have been there. If I could have had a chance to talk to Prince about this issue, I would have told him this. It is a good way to get people that don't have very much money, started listening to his music.... which then would have sold even MORE of his CDs, etc. But, Prince had his beliefs, and I respect that.
But, back to the original topic: If you want to listen to Prince, forget Spotify. You will only get frustrated if you look for Prince on Spotify. Instead, go to: iHeartRadio.
