MPLSOUND 01 "There'll Never B Another Like Me" Hit N Run Phase One may have been panned for being attributed primarily to Josh, but "There'll Never B Another Like Me" (MPLSOUND 01) is about as much a hot mess as anything on HNRP1 and it's clearly all Prince.
I was digging back into old stuff I previously dismissed to look for nuggets of brilliance in retrospect, but this opening album track still failed deliver.
"Dance 4 Me" on the other hand is clearly one his classic timeless gems. [Edited 5/2/16 22:34pm]

No More Candy 4 U, Dance 4 Me, Ol Skool Company, Here and Better With Time are some of Prince's best 00's songs imo. MPLSoUND was a very underrated album by Prince fans.
I admit There'll Never B Another Like Me and Chocolate Box aren't great songs, but they're kind of fun if you don't take them too seriously. |

I like that song. Its no Computer Blue or Let's Work but it was a good song on a decent album. Not everything has to be groundbreaking. I like Chocolate Box, Dance 4 Me, Valentina and Ol' Skool Company too. The rest of the songs on the album I could take or leave but we got two Prince albums that day and there were more than enough good songs on both. |

Chocolate Box aside I like the whole album. Lotusflow3r got much more play from me at the time but I keep going back to MPLSound. Always loved the title track, and you gotta admit, he had a point. Never be another... RIP |

Phase 1:
I think it's just you and me in the Phase I fan club. I love it, there's not a single track I skip on it and that is very rare for me, on most Prince albums, there's at least one track I have to skip, or make an album edit and pretend it never existed .

Nah, it ain't just you two. I like Phase 1 as well. I think much like NPS, it will be one of those albums that was maligned by the fanbase upon its release but becomes more fondly remembered in years to come.
I even like Mr Nelson. That guitar playing, man, does he make his axe sing or what?!

I love Mr Nelson. I don't know why, it seems like something I shouldn't like, I'm not normally keen on instrumentals but this just works for me. Each section isn't overdone, ending exactly when it should before it gets monotonous and then switches up to the next. And the final part with the guitar always demands to be turned up, even if it was already playing loudly. Playing it now [Edited 5/3/16 4:28am] RIP |

Not a big fan of Phase One overall. But Mr. Nelson - that's great stuff. |

Remember when an early instrumental of There'll Never B Another was put on the website?
Many people were even suggesting it was a fake, it was so disliked. I didn't like it all. Just shows the genius that he took that and built it up into the final song that I love. |

DANCE 4 ME and BLACK SWEAT r two of the most under rated songs by PRINCE fans on this site... These will go down as classics from the 00's generation. |

Creatively speaking, Hitnrun 1 is his best album since TGE. Had they hidden the fact it was produced by Joshua Welton, most would agree with me. It's the Prince album I'd been waiting for for over a decade, and I'd hoped for many more collaborations with Welton. Seems like that's unlikely now. |

I even like Mr Nelson. That guitar playing, man, does he make his axe sing or what?! I loved both Newpower Soul and Hit 'N' Run Phase One from the get-go. Why anybody would rather listen to Art Official Age over HNRP1 is baffling to me. |

It's interesting. For me, AOA is Prince's late period classic while HNRP1 is one of the weakest offerings of his career (with plenty of highlights, nonetheless). |

The reason I don't like it has nothing to do with Josh. I judge music on how it sounds, not who made it. And I don't like the generic dance music that fills up the first half of Phase One. I do think it's better than anything Will.I.Am or any of them have come out with, but that's not saying much. |

AOA starts out great (first four songs), and ends great with Way Back Home, Funknroll and Time, but that group of songs in the middle stop it from being a great album. I think the run of songs Breakfast Can Wait-This Could B Us-What It Feels Like in a row really brings down the overall quality of the album.

I hate BCW so I replaced it with Fallinlove2nite for my in car CD and it makes it much nicer, bringing a bit of life into that sequence. RIP |

I also hate BCW, but am not fussed on Fallinlove2nite either. I replaced BCW on my iPod with Ain't Gonna Miss U When Ur Gone, which is an underrated gem imo.

I have no problem with those middle 3 songs (it's actually the opener that I find to be the weakest track), but I much prefer the HNR version of This Could B Us. |
